No, he went to 3rd when Deduno threw a pick-off attempt away at 1st. Then, the next batter, a wild pitch brought him home.

Ok thanks that makes a ton more sense.

I'd love to see Butera in the pen.

Catching.

Every day.

Until he retires.

But he was batting like .350 in his first week!!!!111!!1!

Not to worry. We'll get 7 in the bottom of the first again.

You lied to me, man. Now I don't know what to believe in.

Hey, he's the one guy on the roster who has the legitimate ability to do a Tovar. Should be good for novelty in September when the Twins are 20 games back.

I'm starting to believe that the 2009/10 joe Mauer might be back for realsie.

That would be great -- kind of like having an older version of Mike Trout.

Come see Son of Sal play shortstop!

I have been begging for Butera AND Mauer to do a Tovar this year -- two Tovars in one game would be amazing.

Sorry, it is not my intent to fool anyone. I'm well past retirement age, I don't see so well and posting on the internet is way out of my league so maybe I should just go back

to listening to the Twins on the radio.

Dont let their snark get to you. They're just mad that mom won't let them out of the basement to play with the neighbor kids.

On another note, I just noticed that MLB At Bat changes the release point for each pitch. Awesome. I don't know what kind of crazy mapping tech their using for that but it's awesome.

Release point is among the information tracked by Pitchf/x.

I remember when Jim Lemon, Bill Tuttle, and Lenny Green played the OF.

You got me by a couple years, but I did see TonyO play as a rookie.

Does anyone else find these conversations with people in the booth very awkward? Give them a microphone or quit asking them questions on camera.

If Deduno could actually locate his pitches, he might have a future. As it is now, his guess is as good as ours to where the ball is going. I think it has to do with his follow through more than anything. It is inconsistent to say the least.

Better yet, just stick to calling the game and forget about the cute fluff stuff.

Yes, it is weird. They are just trying to add something since Bert has been gone.

It's all part of the Twins strategy of marketing entertainment instead of baseball. Same thing they do with TF.

I hate it but its all part of the game. One more reason I often turn off the sound.

To actually talk about the game for a change, Deduno has settled down nicely since that first inning. Too bad he's got his pitch count up into the 80s. I must admit I didn't expect this good a start from him. Not lights out spectacular, but he's getting the job done - keeping the score down and giving the hitters a chance.
