Cleveland trade rumors

Sounds like Cleveland is willing to move Danny Salazar or Carlos Carrasco for hitting help.  I don't know a lot about their farm system but they didn't get much production from CF or RF this year.  There are also rumors that they might shop Carlos Santana but would prefer to add a bat to help him.  Michael Bourn is their CFer and he's been a trainwreck for them since he signed his contract.

I think Danny Salazar is sort of what we're all hoping Jose Berrios becomes although he might have some durability concerns.  But he's under team control for a long time yet.

Bourn is in Atlanta now along with Nick Swisher. Bad contract swap where the Indians took on Chris Johnson.

Forget it, the Twins will have to send Buxton or Sano for the Indians to make a move, and if you are going to do that, do it for Kluber, who the Tribe will not move.

I was wondering how close we'd be on a deal built around Plouffe for Carrasco.  I'm thinking not close, but damned if I wouldn't try.

Plouffe plus Arcia. Not enough, but a conversation starter in the slightest?

Arcia for Salazar? A guy can dream, can't he? :)

Well, that may be in the ballpark.  A guy named Giovanny Urshela played the most games at 3B for the Indians.  And he ain't no Trevor Plouffe :jump:

Arcia + Plouffe for Salazar ?

I definitely target Salazar out of the two of them, I think it would take one of our other top prospects to finish it, but I think it's doable.

Being in the same division makes it highly unlikely though.

Given Arcia's season, I doubt he has much trade value.

Plouffe plus any minor league pitcher not named Berrios.  Close?

Plouffe plus _______, plus Arcia as a sweetener. Maybe we have found our new Duensing.

Closer.  + Arcia from Twins.  +Francisco Mejia from Cleveland?

Plouffe and rosario (or Hicks) for Salazar

I think you would have to aim at least that high for Salazar.  He isn't worth that right now but he has the projection as a low end ace (not a top 10 pitcher but real close).

Roberto Perez could be an interesting target. From Cleveland newspaper columnist Paul Hoynes:

Hey, Hoynsie: Do you agree that Roberto Perez is the player who would bring the most in return in a trade? Every team is always looking for a good catcher and backup catchers are a dime a dozen. -- Joe Leuch, Litchfield.

Hey, Joe: You bring up a good point, one I really haven't thought that much about. The Indians really like Perez and Chris Antonetti and manager Terry Francona have said he's talented enough to be a starter. He has some occasional power and a great throwing arm. He's almost in the same spot that Yan Gomes was in when the Indians acquired him from Toronto.

Right now, Perez is probably more valuable to the Indians than to any other team. I'm not sure what kind of return the Indians would get if they traded him. Would he fetch a hitter that would help their offense? I doubt that he'd do that in a one-for-one deal, but in a package perhaps. It's something to watch for this offseason.

Mike Chernoff might disagree.

I wouldn't, that trade looks pretty awesome in the Twins favor.

I like Tyler Duffey a ton, but if the Twins are going to be adding more starters, someone is losing a spot and Duffey right now probably has pretty solid trade value even while none of us knew it two months ago.

I'm a much bigger fan of the 25-year-old Salazar than I am of Carrasco for the record.
