ashbury Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Very tough loss in the first game. Losing streak now at 4, and could come at hardly a worse time. We need a win tonight. A few other thoughts: 1) Mike Pelfrey. 'Nuf said, Big Pelf's got this. 2) Garrett Richards. The Angels threw a competent pitcher at us in game 1, we get another one tonight. Big righty (not as big as our guy of course), eats innings, strikes out his share of batters, keeps his team in the game. He walks a few, so maybe patience at the plate will be key. 3) The Twins Offense. This seems like the overall key. First game today was winnable, and a single run in any number of late inning chances would have achieved that. We need sustained offense the rest of this season if we're going to have a sniff at the postseason. 4) Mr Teflon. Blaine Boyer does it again. He gets tagged for this afternoon's loss, but the run was unearned. So his season ERA is now a tidy 2.36. Does anybody on this planet believe this number fairly reflects the season he has had? Besides members of the Twins front office, I mean? 5) Age 93. My dad celebrates his birthday today. I live too far away to see him as much as I'd like, but he and his bride of 4 years seem to be getting out and about with the other retirees in his residential complex. May we all age as gracefully. Lineups: Angels Garrett Thomas Richards, R, 6'3", 210lb, SP 1 SS E. Aybar (B )2 RF K. Calhoun (L ) 3 CF M. Trout (R ) 4 DH A. Pujols (R )5 LF D. Murphy (L )6 3B D. Freese (R )7 C C. Iannetta (R ) 8 1B E. Navarro (L ) 9 2B T. Featherston (R ) Twins Michael Alan Pelfrey, R, 6'7", 240lb, SP 1 2B B. Dozier (R )2 1B J. Mauer (L ) 3 DH M. Sano (R )4 3B T. Plouffe (R )5 RF T. Hunter (R )6 LF E. Rosario (L )7 SS E. Nunez (R ) 8 C C. Herrmann (L ) 9 CF B. Buxton (R )

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Nunez at short, Herrmann catching, Buxton in center (at #9, so Dozier back in lead off and everyone moves up) Oh yeah, Happy Birthday, Ashbury Sr.!

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 CRU... Cedar Rapids gives up a run in the top of the 9th to go down 2-1. Then starts the bottom off with a pair of doubles (a double double) to put runners on 2nd and 3rd... And brings 'em both in eventually to win the game.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Some of the crawlers opted to watch the game from the Goose Island Pub: Hint: they are the ones in the royal blue tshirts.

I figured a Pub Crawl logo would look good when conducting a transaction involving a certain degree of mutual trust, no?
