Early 2016 Schedule Is Out

You can see it under schedule on the Twins website. We start the season April 4th in Baltimore. The Home Opener is April 11th against the White Sox. MLB messed up the Brewer series again! Only 4 games in the middle of the week. April 18-21. This is always a bring series for people to travel for, and such a horrible time this year.

So what are everyone's thoughts on 2016 schedule?

Personally, as someone who is trying to hit all 30 stadiums, this schedule is a tad disappointing.  As mentioned, the Brewers series is in the middle of the week, which should never ever happen.  Miller Park is a very fun place to be, but I'm not taking work off for it.

I was hoping we would be making a trip to Miami next year so I would get an opportunity to see their new park, but of course, the Marlins will be making the trip up here instead.

And as for the weekend road games, I've already seen Washington, Seattle and Toronto.  Going to see the Mets might be intriguing if it wasn't during the football season.  My best guess is that I'll either hit up the Yankees in June or the Red Sox in July.

The Nationals and Mets aren't coming to town, which is disappointing. The MLB should consider doing more "Home and Home" interleague series (like the STL series this year). It provides the fans an opportunity to see All-Stars like Stanton and allows others to travel and see all of the other MLB stadiums as mentioned above. Win-Win... right?

Side note: Holy crap, hotels are expensive in Boston.

That's why my wife and I bought a condo. She has taken a job there, and the hotel bills after 3 weeks convinced us.

They are doing it a bit more. In addition to the Brewers series, the Twins are also doing 2 Home/2 Away with the Braves next year, although it's not back to back like the Brewers. I believe they did the same thing against Pittsburgh this year.

The problem with the home/home is that it is always done midweek, which is lousy for those of us to like to visit new cities for a roadtrip. This past year was the most disappointing for that, as St. Louis, Cincy, and Pittsburgh are 3 of my favorite parks, and easy roadtrip cities, but all of the games were midweek.

I am glad to see Atlanta as a roadtrip, but I wish it wasn't midweek, and so late in August. Seems like the perfect opportunity to also make a stop in Chattanooga, and also revisit E-Town. Washington is another trip I would have love to have done in summer, but being it's set for mid-April, that will be a no-go for me.

We stayed about 20 miles west, much more reasonable. We caught the train in to the games, and for sightseeing, also much more reasonable. Traffic and parking were ridiculous.

My dad lives outside Boston so I always have a place to stay.

I'm going to try to be out there in July as well.

I was really hoping for an away PHI/NYY combo.  Fly into NYC, take the train to Philly.  Check out the stadium/city, then train it back.

But of course they play the Phillies at home again.  In 2013 they played at WAS and at ATL, yet they're playing both those stadiums again.  Ugh.

I may be visiting Toronto in May so of course looked to see if the Blue Jays were going to be in town. They are playing the Twins...in Minnesota. Darn the luck!
