Defense has held up much better than I expected. Offense is still terrible. Probably doesn't help having Tyler Moore out. Brooks finally looks healthy. It's going to be depressing watching the qb position if green doesn't get to play right away.

The never ending 2 point conversion attempt. And, another targeting. Come on man. No reason to leave your feet there.

Incredibly stupid move by McGhee.

Pretty remarkable win considering the loss of 2 defensive secondary starters, 2 other key defensive players, and the unending distractions.

This is why I love college football more than the NFL.

So now that Hennepin county had reviewed the case, and still declines to press charges.... and only 6 of the players are actually believed to be involved... does everyone still believe the university is justified in how this has been handled? Again, this is far from over.

I think the EOAA wanted to humiliate the football team and the school leadership went along because they want to dump Claeys.

It was an awful situation turned into a farce, the theme of Gopher athletics.

Concur, except I'm with them on wanting a new coach.

I'm certainly not opposed to a new coach, but (as I'm sure you'd agree) there was a better way to let him go.

If they don't already have a deal with someone, firing him now would seem to limit the candidate pool a little bit knowing you were coming into this mess and working for this administration. They'll obviously still get a decent guy, because it's D1 and it pays well, but much more risk/uncertainty than it had to be.

And Claeys is gassed.

I'm OK with it if they have a plan. If not, this would be a crowning moment of this whole fiasco. And if they have a replacement in mind, why keep him and his staff hanging for a week.

Not especially confident in the administration, which is kind of an evergreen statement for a Minnesota backer.

Wow, so long Tracy Claeys. Promptly fired this afternoon.

The three names mentioned in the Star Tribune article I linked:

"Speculation is sure to start immediately on who will replace Claeys, with Western Michigan coach P.J. Fleck, former LSU coach Les Miles and Boise State coach Bryan Harsin (a Coyle hire when he worked at Boise State) among the names expected to get tossed around."

I don't think Les Miles would come near this program TBH unless they give him a godfather offer of $7+ million...

P.J. Fleck would be the first call to make. Tuned in and out of their game yesterday, and he looks like a motivating coach to play for.

Charlie Strong maybe? Perhaps the lights were too bright to handle down here at UT.

Even an outside the box hire like NDSU's head coach.

Wasting even more money on a big name? I sure hope not.

By the way, I am seeing many posts from women (of all ages) affiliated with the University applauding this move.

Wasting even more money.

Yep, no doubt. But every university wants a chip, chair, and a chance at the BIG corporate money from these bowl games.

To what end?

At least until academic institutions stop serving as farm systems for the big casino called the NFL. Which I suppose is the same thing.

I'm not a woman, but this strikes me as misdirected. But congratulations I guess?

I would support this 100%. Wonder when it will happen.

I'm sure my wife will be delighted to accept them.
