**TERRIBLE** loss.  Santana yakking a nice 4-run cushion, a stupid wavearound of a runner to get thrown out at the plate and then a poor decision to bring in one of the worst relievers on the roster.  This really sours the buzz of the two previous games.

Been too long since Brian was a hero.

At least he didn't "k".

Now hopefully our 9 man bullpen can win us a game this weekend, since we will see a lot of them.

What does this have to do with who was the hottest on Gilligans Island?

That game was just a big WTF? from the 5th inning on, the biggest WTF? reserved for Fien being in the game , tied in the 8th.

All those in favor of May returning to the rotation, are also, by default, in favor of Fien/Boyer/Jepsen in that situation.  That's just the reality of it.  Hell, Fien's probably the best choice of those three.

Don't know. Was there ever a volcano on the show? That would be pretty hot.

Yes - I am pretty sure it was the episode Gilligan did something that prevented them from escaping the island and Skipper hit him with his hat.  I believe Bob Denver won an emmy for this episode.

Funny listening to Bert and the media talk about why Santana hasn't looked sharp lately...dead arm, time off, no spring training.....no mention of the obvious - no PEDS.

Yes, except it seems like Jepsen should get the call as he's the guy for whom we just traded players to pitch in that very situation. Not that I have any confidence that he would have done any better.

but not because of success or envy, but because the guy could fix things, and still doesn't effect good change.

Other GM's pulled strings and effected meaningful change, our guy thinks the correct path is to stick with those that have proved to fail.

Yeah, I hear ya, May was certainly the guy for that 8th inning spot today, not that Mollie would have necessarily used him anyway.

I'd be more supportive of him staying in the pen if A. this rotation was pitching better and B. if he was actually going to be used as he should be in the pen.

To be fair, some of us favor May returning to the rotation *eventually*, not necessarily tomorrow (Berrios!).  And would have favored the acquisition of relievers better than Jepsen too.

Oh yeah.

6-5 Rangers at the end of 9.

CBU.

I blame this on no one sayin' "winnah" followin' last night's game, so as ya know. We was derelict in our duties...

And i's a child o' 2 lefties. All us kids is righty, perhaps due to the writing thing, though i certainly find doing stuff lefty somewhat awkward, but i'm surprisingly successful at it.

I'm no English teacher, but I'm busting the grammer police.

Meaning of Affect and Effect
In order to understand the correct situation in which to use the word affect or effect, the first thing one must do is have a clear understanding of what each word means.

Affect is a verb. It means to produce a change in or influence something.
Effect is a noun that can also be used as a verb. It means a change that occurred. When an "s" is added, "effects" means personal belongings.

With May now gone, I hate every single relief pitcher on the roster. Perkins only because it's after the All Star break.

But hey, I'm glad I got to know his feelings on advanced catching metrics earlier this week. Blaaaaaaah! How about worrying about saving games instead of pontificating on the intricacies of catching defense.

Huskiest?

Heh.   Hard to believe kids' clothing actually used that word back in the day.   Was lucky to never have to shop for 'husky'.    Might as well force kids to try on clothes from the 'Malamute' rack.

Normally I'd agree with you.  But this is one instance where it's different.

From Grammarist.com:

But the words have other, less commonly used senses that can make them tricky. Effect does function as a verb when it bears the sense to bring about. For instance, it is the correct word in phrases such as effect change and effect solutions where these phrases mean to bring about change and to bring about solutions. It’s possible to imagine where the phrase affect change might make sense, but it would mean to have an effect on change rather than to bring about change.

Grammar Police will let you off with a warning.

That is exactly what I was thinking when I saw that post.   My sister recently was remembering when she was in gym -- the school swim suits had different colors for the different sizes, so all the plus size girls had to wear the fat color.  Can't imagine that happening now either.

I remember being bummed I was scrawny enough I had to wear the slim size -- if only I had that problem now.

And the term "personal effects" effectively means your future has been affected permanently!

I am no "grammer police either"! I am the "grammar" spell check vice squad! I quit liking English class when I found out I could not use the F word as an action verb!

Since we've gotten on a subject grammatical, i saw on a quiz once, but no one handed out the answers afterwards:

Is "the yolk of the egg is white" or "the yolk of the egg are white" correct?
