Alright here is the deal with pizza because you are all wrong.

Every pizza joint, without exception, runs too few ovens. So when you order a pizza during normal meal hours you get an expensive low-mass pie that is underdone. Even when you request it "well done," they undercook it. That's been my experience, every, time.

Papa Murphys is awesome because its a cheap massive pie and the fact that you have to cook it yourself is a benefit, not a drawback. Because you can cook it properly, a half hour at least, which is about as long as it would take to get one of the aforementioned overpriced undersized gourmet fancy pizzas anyways. And Papa Murphys are made fresh to order so I don't know why people are trashing it like its some low quality product.

/rant.

Well, first, if I didn't like the taste of Papa Murphy's I wouldn't have bought it.  Problem I have with it is the dough, just like my main problem with Subway is it's bread.

I imagine many would say, when looking at just Pizza chain restaurants, that Papa Murphys is very good by comparison.  But bigger cities have other types of Pizza places that make unbelievable Pizza's.  For example, about 30 of them in Chicago and it's surrounding areas (can't speak to NY, cause I have never and will never go there;-)).

I like their thin crust at Papa Murphy's... Their original crust is too much dough for sure.

Now the new thing seems to be build your own pizza places, where they can cook your pie in 5 minutes or less. They're popping up all over the place down here in Austin.

I can't even eat the thin crust from there, but my experience mostly comes from their stuffed pizzas.  Again, the flavor of the ingredients are good, but the dough has no real flavor.  Then again, Papa Johns is horrible all around and Pizza Hut is just grease.

I am really close to giving up pizza altogether though.

Green Mill if you have one. Davanni's also a winner. I think they are TC only.

Davanni's is great, but unfortunately just a TC chain. Couldn't tell you how many times I went for a slice at their Edina location over the lunch hour when I worked up there.

How anyone can eat the floppy, teenage mutant ninja turtle pizza that these places put out... I don't get it. Dont' even bother, I'll cook it myself, thanks. Papa Murphy's just "gets it."

Well, the people at BIG National Holidays wants us to get fat today....

Because it's National Double Cheeseburger Day! What's your go-to place for a good burger?

Today is also National Linguine Day! Linguine dates back over 400 years, and is one of the world's oldest kinds of pasta. Rightfully so - It's delicious!

Finally, on this day in 1978, 36 year old Muhammad Ali boxes and wins against Leon Spinks to earn his 3rd heavyweight boxing title. He's the first, and probably only boxer, to ever do so!

The fights with Spinks began the sad final chapter of Ali's career. It was highly probable that he was already suffering from Parkinson's at the time. Spinks should have never been in the ring with a fighter like Ali, but Ali was too big a cash cow for many at the time. It's a damn shame he took those fights, as well as the one's that followed, I refuse to remember him that way.

Mmmm.. Those look like the kinds of places where they haven't cleaned off their grills in years. And believe me, that's a good thing!

Places like what North posted are the best for burgers, no question. But in lieu of that kind of a joint nearby, this is the neighborhood burger place. It's a bit more ... 'hoity toity' ... but they do do burgers good! My 'go to' is the 'make your own' using the Prime Grind. Yep, that's what it is ... the best, ground, prime rib ... and it is a GOOD burger. Oh, and the fried pickles are awesome!

If I want fast, on the run, there is a Five Guys and an Epic Burger not far away. I prefer Epic to Five Guys, but, meh, it doesn't quite match and is really just fast food but a little different.

I can't handle too much crap all over my burger (i.e., the second of North's photos). A simple double at the Lion's Tap will do it for me.

Also, IMOFWIW, McDonald's makes a damn fine double cheeseburger. Might have one of those today.

Lion's tap used to be great. Now? Meh.

I don't know what 'IMOFWIW' means, but the only thing I eat at McDonald's is the McGridle.  And even then, that's maybe twice a year when my son convinces me to go there.  I haven't had a burger there in, I don't even know how long.  IMO, worst burger out of all the major hamburger joints.

In my opinion, for what it's worth ...

And yeah, I don't do McDonald's often. Maybe, maybe a grilled chicken sandwich if I'm on the road or in a hurry.

Load my burger up! Lettuce, tomato, pickle, grilled onions, jalapenos, ketchup & mustard please!

Also, if you haven't tried fried egg on your burger, do yourself a favor and try it! You won't be disappointed.

I guess MO is not W a whole lot.

Nah, most people have a predisposed disposition towards McDonald's. Being the Granddaddy of the fast food industry makes them pretty polarizing.

I do like their fries on occasion, when they're fresh and hot.

Oh, and I forgot to mention ... my burger place ... beer, GOOD beer, and lots of it. And they make one, really good cocktail, which is my go to. It's one of those you easily get tipsy off of because it tastes so good and goes down easy.

Take a burger, put a fried egg, some pulled pork, some onion rings and some bacon.  Then call an ambulance :-)

Used to go to this place called 'The Dugout'.  They had Long Islands teas that tasted so good, you could hardly tell you were drinking alcohol at all.  Till you stood up.

Those are the best kind of drinks... As dangerous as it seems... At least you're going to have a great night!

Hopdoddy Burger Bar  is our hoity toity place here in Austin. Great burgers and craft brews.... For the people who are not fans of beef, they also have bison, lamb, tuna, chicken, and turkey burgers to try as well!

This is the kind of place where you need to show up at 11 AM for lunch. Otherwise you're waiting an hour just to sit down if you show up closer to noon.
