"Ahem."

Do I have to resort to being a basketball fan now? It pains me to say it, but it may be the only shot to see a Minnesota team succeed.

Well, if that's the way you're gonna be, we don't need your crap attitude on our bandwagon. Long live the Big Meow!!!!

Ack ... no sports in the food celebration thread ... unless it's the sport of a food-eating contest!

Happy Tuesday! Hope you all enjoyed your Labor Day weekend.

Today is National Coffee Ice Cream Day! This could really kill 2 birds with 1 stone this morning.. As you're all aware, ice cream is my weakness, and I need caffeine to survive this day....

Today is also National Read a Book Day! This is something that I certainly need to do more... Currently reading The Hike by Drew Magary.. What book(s) are you reading at the moment?

Finally, on this day in 1522, after a 3 year, 42,000 mile journey around the world, nao Victoria returns to Spain. The captain informs them that the world is indeed not flat, and they were the first explorers to circumnavigate the globe!

I am not good at finishing books right now......

I am about half way thru Guy Gavriel Kay's latest book, if you like alternative history fantasy books (with almost no magic), he's the best writer out there right now. This book takes place in alternate Italy.....Children of Earth and Sky.

I am about 90% thru The Long Mars, which I had from a MN library, and didn't finish before we moved.....sigh.

I just finished the Color of Magic, the first of many books in the series. I was entertained.

I re-started The Martian Chronicles...since it is really just a series of short stories, I am picking it up and putting it down...

I recently finished The Magicians trilogy. Grown up Harry Potter. Very good stuff. Currently a series on Syfy (I think Syfy), which I did not watch.

I also recently read The Dispossesed. This is early Ursula K Le Guin, and is old school Science Fiction....political story disguised as sci fi.

This doesn't count the cookbooks and D&D books....

One of my favorite flavors of B&J's was Coffee Heath Bar Crunch. Then it became Coffee Toffee Crunch ... or something like that. It wasn't as good. It was RUINED! <sadface>

I do like a good coffee ice cream, though. Yum!

Books ... not really reading anything right now.

Any autobiography recommendations? As much as I enjoy fiction, I also try to read about 2-3 different people a year....

Earlier this year I read Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank and was fascinated by her story.

Just finished "Long Walk to Freedom", the story of Nelson Mandela. Very good read.

Also, while not an autobiography, "56, Joe Dimaggio and The Last Magic Number in Sports" is a great look into the 1941 season and a worthwhile read.

Anyone read The Arm yet? It was recently on sale, so I added it to my big, virtual, pile of books I might read someday that were on sale.....

Nope, but that looks like a book I should put on the list.

I did read Jeff Passan's other book Death to the BCS.. Really enjoyed that.

Heezy just recommended that one over in the Other Baseball forum

Hmm... apparently there will be a Tim Horton's opening in Dinkytown later this fall.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

If you're a fan of local coffee shops, probably a very bad thing.
