Food and other such holidays

You'll need something to wash that down with.

I can think of lots of things ... screwdrivers, bloody marys, mimosas, L.I. ice teas ... need I go further?

Well certainly not on my account. I'd add mead to the list, but I think that is suitable for all occasions.

Sir Sean Connery's birthday today. 86 and counting.

Wonder if he's going to celebrate with a whiskey sour? Since today is National Whiskey Sour Day!

Or perhaps he orders a banana split for dessert at his favorite restaurant. He can't go wrong with either choice today!

I like the odd Whiskey Sour now and again, simple and tasty.

Not a fan of it's cousin the Boston Sour though, no eggs in my cocktails thanks.

Oh, buddy. Sorry to disagree. You have  to use egg whites in a sour.

Okay, that was a real ISH moment ... an egg in a cocktail?

It's just there to make it frothy and delicious.

Well, unless it's being whipped into a meringue with sugar added, and it is topping a dessert, I want no part of it.

This is the correct answer. Boston sours sound disgusting.

Happy Friday!

Today is National Cherry Popsicle Day! Whether or not it's cherry flavored, do yourself a favor and enjoy a delicious summer treat before the colder weather hits us!

Today is also National Dog Day! Craig, Formerly Always, Ben, what are you going to do to celebrate the day?

Today is also National Women's Equality Day! A great day to celebrate when the 19th Amendment was passed in 1920. Here's a gif of Beyonce.

Finally, on this day in 1959, the British Motor Corporation releases their newest model, the Mini! Since gas rationing was a big issue, they needed something with good gas mileage. This was the solution to their problems! Anyone ever have a Mini?

Cherry popsicles, yes! I would buy them more often if I could buy a box of just cherry, but you get grape and orange, too. Not as much a fan.

And, well, I drive a mini. :)

Not a peep about 'Go Topless' day? I'm actually quite surprised about that.

I went topless today. Yup. Had the top down on the Mini.

The forums appear to be pretty toxic today.. Let's have some fun here instead.

Today is National Chop Suey Day! It's been a while since I had Chinese food, and this is sounding mighty tasty today!

This is sad on this day history, but in 2005, Hurricane Katrina came in and wrecked havoc on New Orleans and the SE of the US. Can't believe it's already been 11 years since it happened.

All we need to do is talk about rainbows, unicorns and Santa Claus and, for some, all will be well in the forums and Twins territory in general.

As opposed to most days? Watch out for the acid burns. :(

Chop Suey? Get yourself a Hot Pot instead and you won't regret it.

Katrina was terrible. Unfortunately it's not likely the last of it's kind. :(

Pretty cruddy day, all things considered.

I've just been informed it's Toasted Marshmellow day. Something I'd only do around a real campfire, so not happening for me.
