jimmer Verified Member Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Halloumi is my favorite cheese ever. fantastic flavor and a versatile cheese.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Blonde brownie, like with white chocolate? How else would one make a blonde brownie? It's probably obvious I'm not a baker eh? I'm not a baker either, but apparently it's made with brown sugar instead of cocoa (I think that's what normal brownies require?) Either way the picture looks great.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Halloumi is my favorite cheese ever. fantastic flavor and a versatile cheese.Hmm, never heard of Halloumi, but I am intrigued. What does it go good with for a meal?
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Raclette cheese, because Raclette. http://surdyks.com/cheese-shop/raclette-fondue/
jimmer Verified Member Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Halloumi is a Cypriot cheese made of goat and Sheep milk. What I love about it is that is can be grilled or fried and, because it has such a high melting point, it still maintains most of its form. I enjoyed it a lot in breakfast sandwiches or just to nibble on after I grilled it.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Okay, since we're throwing out cheeses to try instead of talking about blonde brownies ... which aren't brownies but just dessert bars cut into squares, I mean really ... Gjetost. Awesome! It's somewhat a required taste although not overly sharp or pungent, but it's denser as it's made from the whey instead of the curd. It's a Scandinavian goat cheese. It's great with fruit or on toasted bread/bagel/whatever. I've even made grilled cheese and apple sandwiches with it. Really. It's amazing stuff!
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 As dessert......or just eating.....aged gouda. But, most any cheese.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Happy Monday everyone. For those that missed it yesterday, Sunday was National Peanut Butter Day! So feel free to celebrate again today. Today is also National Opposite Day! So to everyone on this post, I hate your guts....Today is also National Irish Coffee Day. It's been a while since I've enjoyed an Irish Coffee...
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 What? I missed peanut butter day? Dang. That is my oldest son's favorite food (of course, he's at college, so it's not like we could have partied together). Well, as of today I have (temporarily) given up coffee.....so I guess I'm not in on that one.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I mean, you could always send him a care package of Peanut Butter and say happy national peanut butter day! Getting care packages in college is one of life's simple pleasures.

Getting care packages in college is one of life's simple pleasures. Maybe I'll bake some peanut butter cookies, send the ones with Chocolate to the younger, and the ones w/o to the older (who does not eat chocolate.....oddly). Of course, since I'm also giving up sugar and flour for a bit.....baking might not be my thing.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Everyday is Peanut Butter day in my home. It's one of my staples. Whenever I don't want to fix a proper meal, or am too tired to, or just don't know what I want, it's peanut butter toast. Any kind of coffee, 'Irished up' or otherwise, meh. Unless it's truly quality, rich, fine coffee and not that bitter, burnt swill Starbucks serves.
