twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Love brownies, absolutely love them, but it burns my ass when people insist on putting walnuts in them. What a waste of a good brownie!

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Nuts do not belong in cookies or brownies.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Pretty pumped up about this day...Today is National Pastry Day! There's a place in Austin called Upper Crust Bakery that have the best pastries ever. Give me one of those over a donut any day of the week.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Nice, I am sitting next to a pastry right now. Maybe I should eat it.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 So, in honor of National Pastry Day I had a pop-tart for breakfast. All I can say is it looked good in the vending machine. Disappointed.

Disappointed.Ish.. If we're going down that path for pastries, at least have a toaster strudel! Pop Tarts in the world of pastries is equivalent to Totino's Pizza in the world of pizzas!

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Hostess fruit pies for the win.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Hostess fruit pies for the win.No ... McDonald's Apple Pie! Oh, wait ... that was covered in the National Fried Pie Day. But wouldn't it also be a pastry?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Pastry? Not a Pastry? Lol ... see my post above.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Lol ... see my post above.Ha!............Cosmic.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 According to rather quick research.....yes, that is a pastry for sure.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 I was trying to find something light hearted....
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 As my small home is filled with the most awesome aromas (baking pumpkin break), it reminded me that this has not been updated in a while. Today was National Biscuits and Gravy Day and National Bouillabaisse Day. Neither are really my cup of tea, so I guess I don't have much to say about it. But what surprises me most is that you guys missed Lager Day!! REally??? So shocked.

Never understood the biscuits and gravy thing, waste of both really. Christmas is getting close however, which means Yorkshire pudding and gravy, oh baby!! Missing lager day makes me sad, although lager is a summer beer for me. Oh well. I'm sure I'll find a way to make it up to myself.....somehow.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 According to my list, it's National Gingerbread Latté Day and National Lemon Cupcake Day. I'll have one of each, please, tyvm. Mmmmmmm .... That will go very nicely with Stressful Day/s at Work Week.
