I completely do not understand the reluctance to try to improve the bullpen.  Why the *$**(#( is Rogers still starting in Rochester, instead of having been converted to a LH reliever long ago?  Why the $%**($ the reluctance to move the best of the AA bullpen to AAA 6 weeks ago, hoping to have an answer or two by now?  Why did it take until a couple weeks ago to try converting Meyer to a reliever?

Why, with Pressly leaving last night's game with an injury, May not available, and a tired pen already, a crucial game coming up with the team you're trying to catch, was there not someone on a plane to KC last night.  Y'know...just in case you're in a tight game and you really don't want to be dealing with an already weak pen made even weaker by not having it's normal compliment of releivers?

Sheesh. If I could like this more often I would. It's the Twins Way. Glacial! Never make a decision until it's too late.

This was the day to use Perkins in the 9th, games against the division leader are too important.  KC had no problem using Holland.

I kind of agree with you today, even though you could say it was the road game thing etc.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm more upset at the impotent hitting for the Twins.  The only one I have confidence in, now, is Sano.  I hope the rest of the team doesn't rub off on him.  I would love to see Molitor sit some people -- not matter their stature.

that would be traditional, old school thinking, for sure :-)

yeah, we need to score more, no doubt.

Except Perkins just pitched. Twins likely wouldn't have scored next inning and Boyer and the bumbling idiots would have blown in the 10th then

True, but you give your guys another at bat likely against another KC reliever not named Davis or Holland.

Normally I don't make this complaint, but a series closing game against the division leader is worth it to me.  If that means Perk is not available tomorrow against Baltimore, so be it.

A split series where we had leads and they walked off both wins isn't something to hang our heads about.

This is exactly right. The Twins are back to playing well.

The Twins really need to make some roster moves but they will still be playing important games a month from now, I have no doubt.

I agree to a point, Plouffe and Hunter were completely robbed in the 8th and 9th innings.  KC's defense is very good and were the main reason they won imo.

KC had already used their two best relievers though, right? Don't we have a better chance of scoring in the 10th now that both of those guys are unavailable?

And, again, there's a new guy in the pen who can strike people out. Also, not used.

I'm pretty sure May was not available today.  I either read or heard that somewhere...I think.

Twins hit the ball hard today, but it's been a few weeks since they've been able to build on a strong offensive performance from the previous day. I keep waiting for them to get consistent again, but it's just not happening offensively.

Wasted opportunities.

C'mon Terry Ryan ... give Molitor something to work with in the BP.

Very true they've been inconsistent to say the least.  My comments were more so about this game

wouldn't that kind of take away some of the reasoning being used around here when saying moving May to the bullpen was a good idea?

Hey, not me!  Always said should remain a starter.

To be perfectly honest, with Molitor you sometimes have to read between the lines. i.e. he never viewed May as a relief pitcher and wanted to keep him ready for the rotation.  Pelfrey gets 1 more chance, then May is back in.

Does anyone think that Pelfreys last tirade over getting dropped to the pen, effected this decision.

I hope not, that would be allowing the inmates to run the clubhouse.  I must admit, I've have wondered the same however.

Still, there's some good things to look back on in this series.

1.  Hicks isn't as bad a hitter as I previous thought.  Although yesterday was an O-fer, he actually had good AB's especially late in the game against a lefthander.  Had a dinger today!  He may be getting it this time.

2.  Ervin Santana.  Great start.  Too bad he got pulled.

3.  gulp, I was wrong on Sano.  He seems to get it.  After a batter before him [Plouffe?] got a hit on the first pitch, Sano hit a double on the first pitch.  Somebody was paying attention!!

4.  I saw yesterday why everyone liked D Santana at short.  Gods, what an arm!  I remember 2 plays yesterday where the relay throw was late to Danny and he still almost threw out the runner at first.  Impressive.

Cheers :th_alc:

here's the, um, good news: boyer and thompson threw only eight pitches combined -- they'll be ready to go tomorrow!

This post was borderline Sadomasochistic!

IMHO, no.  Pelfrey started the year great, so Molitor is giving him some rope.  After his triade during the game, Pelfrey has regressed to his NY Mets version.  May is being kept close by [cough, cough, working long relief] to replace Pelfrey after he blows up in his next start.
