Here is my original comment:

No, your original comment was "I think very few other clubs make this choice." in reference to my post about teams deferring to veterans.  If you sidetracked that with some other narrow argument, that's on you.

I explained why this was not a typical situation, and why most clubs would not do it. Don't try to change the subject to support a bogus argument and then blame me.

The only bogus thing was your initial response and many subsequent attempts after.  You still haven't even managed to comprehend the initial point going all the way back to jimmer's attempt to explain it to you.  I've probably just wasted my breath, should've left his response to say it.  Lesson learned.

Well at least you don't read jimmer's posts either. He just thought (incorrectly) that I accused you of supporting the decision. His post had nothing to do with whether other clubs would do this.

Remember when some thought that it would be a good idea to give Pelfrey a qualifying offer after the season?

It is frustrating that May is bumped from the rotation but this is not unusual.  Hopefully this is nothing more than 2-3 week move and May gets regular 2-3 inning work as a long man.

In addition to that hopefully Ervin starts out strong.  It will be tough to watch Ervin struggle after bumping May.  I think Ervin is a good pitcher but it is tough to say what will happen after missing half of the season.

So far so good for Santana. May has had one outing as good as this in his 15 (June 3 vs. Boston).

But I agree that this is likely short term. If it isn't it means Pelfrey picked it back up of course isn't a bad thing either.

'May’s first four starts in June were eye-opening, with just five runs and 24 strikeouts in 24 innings. That’s a 1.88 ERA, though the Twins somehow went 1-3 in those starts. He also leads the team in strikeouts and is third in strikeout/walk ratio.'

Ha ha ha, yeah, can you even imagine that some people flirted with that idea!? *whistles and saunters away.*

Seriously though, with the way Pelfrey's been pitching lately, it's becoming clear that he's coming down to earth. That said, I really have no idea why they'd choose May as the one starter to demote. What's up with that? He's too good and too important to the future. The obvious choice was Pelfrey, if only to give him a breather and get him out of the funk he's currently in. My second choice was probably Santana, though his first start back was plenty good. Then maybe a 6-man rotation?

Unless they're keeping Pelfrey in the rotation because demoting him to the bullpen might look bad for his trade value, I don't see it. This only makes marginal sense if they're planning on dealing Pelfrey for whatever at the deadline.

The team definitely has to roll with Santana after giving him the contract.  Money matters.  Likewise Hughes wasn't going anywhere.  Every argument for May can also be applied to Gibson so he stays.  Milone has been awesome in June even if this could end similar to Pelfrey.

Yes, it's easy to say that Pelfrey should have been bumped but I find it hard to believe that would happen after the Twins have stuck with him for so long and he did so well at the beginning of the year.  The question will be how quickly May gets back to the rotation.  And what happens if Nolasco is ever deemed healthy.
