Feliz has a pretty hefty arbitration figure. I'd guess the Twins balk.

Wait for them to pass waviers. Then look and see at their season. Gorzelanny could be an upgrade to Duensing, Feliz might recover and could be signed as a depth piece. Twins at this time need to look at all options.

Absolutely let them pass through waivers. Then make a play for Joba. Hes still young enough, still throws pretty hard, that he is absolutely worth a look see and needing some fresh air. If he balks at working a few things out at Rochester first, then I might just pass.

Gorzelanny has a career OPS against of .668 against lefties.  Although in very small samples the last two years he has not bee good against lefties.

IMHO: Both are the classic definition of the 'hanger on' while Neftali Feliz has a recent history of success.

However, I'd still continue the auditioning of the MiLB pitchers.  You really need to know what you have...

Speaking of Feliz....Remember 3-4 years ago when the Rangers had everything going?  Jon Daniels was the man. World Series loss.  Stacked minor league system, Feliz, Profar, Alt (Olt), etc.

 

Feliz gets hurt and DFA’d.  Profar was a total bust. Alt was a total bust.  Then they go out and give Choo and Andrus $100M each.

The Cardinals hacked the Twins system regarding this signing.

 

They had to hack Goin's computer, because Terry does not have one.  Terry gave Goin specific instructions on what to look for.

 

The criteria is:

 

Salary < 500k

 

Age > 38

 

K per 9 < 7

 

2015 ERA > 6.50

 

Result = Atchison

I'm sure Atchison's agent had the memo expressed to Terry Ryan.  And it worked.  He's like an addict when it comes to washed up old guys with no upside.  He just can't say no.
