The 39th round pick, Daniel Tillo, just graduated from Sioux City North HS. He is Iowa's Mr. Basketball for 2015 and all-state as a quarterback. He is announced for U of Ky in baseball.

Thanks for clarifying how the pool works.  I'm sure no team wants to risk losing a first round draft pick, and I would guess the Twins manage the signings carefully so they don't have to pay the tax either.  They'd have to find significant savings elsewhere, if they wanted to make a run at one of the hard-to-sign guys.  I heard somewhere they might be able to save $200K on Jay.  Don't know if that's true, and they'd still have to find a bunch more, I think, to get a couple of these players.  It's an interesting to watch how teams play this game, though, especially with drafting college seniors who have little leverage.

Great pick.  Decent sinker like 30% of the time.

I love all the day 3 HS picks. Even if signing them are long shots, the normal college guys drafted in rounds 20 or later are probably even longer shots and with much less upside.

So is it against the rules or just frowned upon to send the late round HS picks some pot and hookers and then send the NCAA some pics of the party? I think they'd be easier to sign if they got their college offers pulled.

Seems like a grey area to me.

seems like photoshop'd do the trick, at least to sew some temporary uncertainty, and'd be way cheaper to boot.

I'm guessing they had a deal in place with Jay in advance.  I wouldn't be surprised if the savings is a bit more than 200k.  It's quite possible they put guys like Jay/Allard against each other and picked the one they knew they could get a decent below slot deal.

Is it possible we could get some of you guys who are more familiar with the draft to post your predictions on who we will sign? I know it may be a crapshoot, but was just curious to see some predictions.

Normally I'm a "lock down 1-10" guy and am happy if they do so - I dont't remember a draft where the Twins took so many "signability" picks in the later rounds as this one. I guess we still need to sign the 1-10 guys to keep the pool money, but I can see why they made the picks they made at 6,7, 9, and 10 now.

Any slot savings on guys like Moran, Wade, and Miller can perhaps help lure in Wilson, Eastman, Murray, etc.

I just hope the Twins scouts developed good relationships with some of these kids that will help us get them inked.
