But that doesn't take into account the big thing: $$$

Ah, that's a very good point. And not just the $$$ a player wants, but the slot value from drafting in a certain position. So you don't necessarily want a guy who drops, if he still expects the bigger money, unless you have a way to manage it.

So the way I said it (who would they personally take at #1, or at #2...) doesn't quite do it. Wheels within wheels.

If you're the twins and both Tate and Jay are at 6, who do you take and why?

Klaw  (4:28 PM)

Tate has more long-term upside but a little more risk. I wouldn't say Jay was the wrong choice. In general I'm not going to say much was wrong this year - it's such a flat, muddled class that if you want to tell me Dansby is a better pick than Rodgers or Jay better than Tate, I'm going to nod and say "good point." There isn't enough room to take dogmatic stances on most of these players.

Seems like things are pointing to Jay. Manual, Callis and Mayo all have him as the Twins selection in their final mocks before the draft. I'd find that a highly disappointing selection if it turns out to be true as I'm concerned about how his body and stuff will hold up as a starter. Speaking of which, noticed he was sitting more 91-93 instead of 94-96 in his performance today.

That is why Law gets paid the big bucks. Nobody doesn't answer questions like he does.

Agreed, and I'm not complaining at all ..... just saying that the statement that they might take pitching because they lack arms.....and AA is STACKED.....well, I was just saying the could use more hitters in A-, A also.

I think they've tried to balance this out somewhat by emphasizing position players with their international signings over the past couple years. We should see some hitting talent emerge and maybe even trickle into A ball later this year, certainly next. Guys like Diaz, Minier, Guzman, etc. And I wouldn't be surprised to see them skew things by a few picks toward position players in this draft.

Anyone else like Benintendi?

I could just see him as Dozier 2.0, maybe even better.

Pitching probably makes more sense, but I like what I've seen from this guy.

I also like Tucker more than Cameron because of thehit tool. Sounds like he has all-around ability as well.

I was scared off by the poster that pointed out how most of his homeruns were "wall scrapers" and a few were inside-the-parkers. Cannot see that translating in Target Field.

He just hit 94 MPH in the 6th inning if that makes anyone feel better.

If, a big if, Cameron is the Twins top guy at 6 and they view the rest as being far behind in terms of potential, why not take him with the knowledge that if he doesn't sign they get the pick in the "loaded" 2016 draft?

Is this crazy thinking on my part?

I want Fulmer, Funkhouser, Russell in that order.

I'm expecting Jay, Tucker, or Allard.

Really? I haven't seen many people with a list like this. To each his own though and like most have said this draft is so wide open I am not going to disagree. For me though, if we get one of Bregman, Jay, Tate, Allard or Tucker I will be happy.

If Bregman, Tucker and Tate are all gone, I'm beginning to think........Trenton Clark.  Apparently the Twins recently worked him out, and he supposedly has 70 speed and a good hit tool.  Could be worse.

I personally am a big fan of this.

I'm on board with this if the Twins scouts really like him.  The only question is that there doesn't seem to a lot of conviction that he is a top 6 guy.  The downside is that the Twins lose a year of development time by waiting.

One interesting aspect of the draft slotting is that it is actually a benefit to consolidate your picks into one draft.  For example the Twins would be in an outstanding position with the #7 and #20 (estimate).  They would be the team that could take the guy that dropped due to signability (Manaea for example) and make it work with the extra 5% and possibly take a few underslot picks in rds 4-10.

Yeah, it just seems like the Twins hold all the leverage especially if they've scouted ahead on 2016 and project better players available in the top 10.

I havnt looked at Hrbowski mock yet, but the pros, and Hrbowski may be a pro too, are saying Tyler Jay to the Twins. I would be ok with that, but I still prefer Tucker now that Bregman has been chosen.

Twins taking Cameron, are they thinking what I'm thinking?
