Top Prospects Jersey #'s

Pretty pointless thread, but it's the offseason.

 

Does anyone have inside knowledge for what numbers Buxton, Sano, Rosario, Meyer and others will choose when they make it to the big leagues?  I have an old Delmon jersey (#21), so I'm hoping one of them chooses that number.  Deduno was using it last year but now "he gone".

Not sure about all the prospects, But Lester Oliveros was wearing #48 recently, so Torii might have to buy Lester dinner or something to get his # back.

 

Ervin Santana wore #30 in Atlanta and wore #54 in KC and LAA  - both look available so far.

 

Tim Stauffer wore #47, #54, and #46 in San Diego -  Nolasco already wears #47 for the Twins, and Santana will possibly want #54 again... So.... no idea.

 

Buxton is currently listed on the Chattanooga Roster as wearing #7. He wore #1, #2, and #9 in single A (at least, I've seen pictures of him wearing those #s).

 

Sano wore #24 in Beloit and has worn #33 as well. In spring training he has worn #72 and #98.

I bet that Buxton will not wear 7...

 

Prospects are not assigned numbers until they are on the 40-man roster and playing for the big club, usually at ST. 

 

Meyer, Sano, Kepler and Rosario fall in this category (Pryor and Graham, too, but I could not really call them prospects...)

Buxton if invited for a day or 2 will wear a high number, as will do the extra catchers at Camp.

 

Lester Oliveros will need a new number, since I assume that Hunter will buy 48 from him... 

E.Santana and T. Stauffer  54 was available with the Braves for Santana but took 30 instead.  Who knows...

 

Also, I expect that some players like May (65) will change their numbers to smaller numbers.

I believe Hunter and Santana were given #'s 48 and 54 at their respective press conferences.

Buxton wore 70 last spring, so I'd bet he wears the same. Berrios appears to be wearing 68 this spring. Sano has wore 33 in the past (and 24). Milone is wearing 33 now, which opened 49. Oliveros switches from 48 to 49. Duffey appears to be wearing 71 this spring and Hamburger has 72. 

 

As far as what they'll wear when the make the big stage... impossible to say. It all depends on what's available at that time.
