Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Would it be possible to send Marquis to Rochester? No one would claim him?Yeah, they can do that. But they should have already done that. 4-game winning streak and then the game is in the hands of a complete joke of a pitcher. People complain about Mauer's $23 million, but there is $3 million here and $4.5 or whatever with Blackburn . . . FAR worse payoff. The Twins could be 18 and 22 without those two.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Gibson, Gibson, my country for a healthy Gibson...
Boom Boom Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Marquis needs to work faster. Maybe he should move a little bit more on the rubber. Also he's got a tight quad.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Blackburn appears to be gone. If only we could replace Marquis.Gone? I haven't read stuff today at all. More than 15-day DL?
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Marquis sort of makes you nostalgic for the days of Livan Hernandez.
mikeee Provisional Member Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 Blackburn appears to be gone. If only we could replace Marquis.Gone? Do you just mean the DL? Or has some transaction happened? I thought he still had acouple years on a contract.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Gone? I haven't read stuff today at all. More than 15-day DL?I was being optimistic that Walters and Diamond will leave no room for Blackburn to come back.
Montecore Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 You have to almost think that Ryan (and/or Gardenhire) wanted to sabotage the team, hurt the Pohlads by signing Marquis. No one wanted the guy, right? Yet, they picked him up. It just makes no sense. They could have found a homeless guy, signed him to the minimum and thrown him out there and the results would have been better.
mikeee Provisional Member Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 Double play hurt.. I thought Grienke's pitch count was looking a little high, and he would not be in there late..
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Marquis needs to work faster..I'm not sure you can give up 8 runs any faster than that. //rimshot//
Vegeta Provisional Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Well this game is thoroughly outta hand. Now I am hoping for the little things like Braun breaking a leg, Revere hitting an in the parker. Hot chicks in the stands.

one_eyed_jack Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Marquis sort of makes you nostalgic for the days of Livan Hernandez.---Heck, watching him makes me long for the days of Syndey Ponson. I was skeptical of this signing when it happened, but I figured he'd have his ups and downs and we'd at least get some semi-competent innings out of him. I didn't think he'd be as godawful as he's been (since, oddly enough, his win in Yankee stadium.)

Now I am hoping for the little things like Braun breaking a leg, Revere hitting an in the parker. Hot chicks in the stands. This might be a good time to let Doumit replace Mauer so Joe can get more rest, and put Mastro and Komatsu in to get some experience. And for the cameras to scan the stands for hot chicks.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Hooray, Komatsu gets an AB, but strikes out.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Why hasn't Gardenhire pulled Mauer from the game so he can get more rest?
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Why hasn't Gardenhire pulled Mauer from the game so he can get more rest? This would leave him with only one catcher in reserve for the remainder of the game.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Haha, watching the Brewers broadcast on MLB.tv and they just talked about how Go-Go Gomez (who, I swear if he would have been drafted by the Twins and developed the way they develop players, could be a good-great MLB player right now) on his rehab assignment took the low-A Brewers team out to dinners, including "Hooters, where we killed over 100 chicken wings" . . . nice to see the dude smiling after a minor career derailment.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Why in heavens name would duensing be up in the pen? Just let gray stay out there and take his licks. Edit...and now duensing is in the game. I don't even want to hear the bullpen is worn out, Gardy. Part of it is your own fault.

Should have been a "well, this is your last appearance in MLB, so go after it" moment.
striker_86 Provisional Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Terry Ryan shouldve been fired the moment he signed Marquis to a mlb deal. No other team was willing to give him even a minor league deal. Add this to the loss of draft pick for Capps and you have the worst gm in the bigs.If Baker were healthy, Marquis would be in triple-A. Hendricks/Diamond would have taken the Marquis spot. So Terry Ryan is the worst GM in baseball for signing a bad #5 starter? Bill Smith was responsible for the Capps mess. And if Capps keeps pitching well (8 for 8 in Save opportunities), we will trade him to a contender who needs a closer or setup man.
one_eyed_jack Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Butera on the mound. Now I've seen it all. Though I'd rather have him starting than Marquis in 5 days.
Neinstein Provisional Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 and Butera should be coming back out in the ninth.
mnfireman Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Day off tomorrow, all hands on deck.
one_eyed_jack Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Wow, scoreless inning for Butera. All we need is a couple of touchdowns with 2-point conversions, and we can get him a W.
Dilligaf69 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Was Willigham taken out cuz of injury or the score???
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Drew proving how indeed he can save the pitching staff.
