Self-Serve Beer at the All Star Game?!

I saw this. It's an interesting idea. Unfortunately, there are only 4 different beers you can get, and none of them are really beers that I would normally drink.

It looks like the price is pretty much comparable to the concession stand though. The 20 oz beers are $7.60 for Bud and Bud light, $8 for the shock top and Goose Island. It's a good scheme though, you have to buy $10 or $20 cards. I guess you could always pour yourself $2 worth of beer though.

I probably wont use it since the selection is horrid, but I'm sure some people will be getting the biggest beers then can.

It will be fun to people watch.

I wonder how they make sure minors aren't buying beer. Do customers have to swipe an ID or is there an attendant watching?

There is an attendant to check IDs and watch for people getting too drunk.

It's an interesting idea...but that area of Target Field is the nexus of awful crowd movement. Minnesotans are particularly awful about the "I'm in the middle of the concourse, so this seems like a good place to stop and do something meaningless and annoying" approach to walking and that area bottlenecks as bad as any at the field.

Finally a beta test I am actually looking forward to being a part in!

I wouldn't call three of those actual beers....

Meh, I drink as much craft beer as they come.

But at the ballpark on a hot day there is nothing wrong with having a few bud lights, though I wish they had a grain belt option!

Not a big fan of drinking a few IPA's or the like in the hot sun, but different strokes for different folks.

Not to mention the top of stairs and escalators.......

Right, taste is a matter of......taste. I would not expect anyone to agree with me universally on taste......

BTW, I use untappd to track and rate beers, if anyone is interested, PM me, and I'll send you my user name.....*

* and yes, there is no "e" in that apps' name.....

"A customer can withdraw up to 48 ounces every 15 minutes. If that sounds like a lot, there is an employee at each station to not only check identification but also to intercede should a beer drinker appear intoxicated."

Well you'll have to wait 15 minutes just to get the stupid card at the concession stand!

Does 48 ounces every 15 minutes sound like a challenge to anyone else?

I'm on untappd as well. It's a great app.

I agree with the fact that an IPA isn't always the best on a hot day. My opinion is Bud light tastes like bad water. I do go for Budweiser sometimes on the golf course, but that is usually when options are limited.

If those machines had Grainbelt in them, I'd be taking advantage of them.

At the end of the day it all gets the job done: which is making the twins slightly more tolerable to watch.
