Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I can't imagine a knee injury that isn't serious enough to get the player a trip to the DL. It is strange that he pulled up while running straight ahead. I thought "cramp" or "hamstring" and when it was reported that he hurt his knee, all I can think is ACL.

BTW, to make room on the 40-man, the team could designate Pino, and actually they could just bring up a Bernier or Romero and temporarily go down to 12 pitchers. Then May or someone else could be recalled when it is time for Pino's turn. That way a DL trip for Santana could be delayed for a few days.

 

Unless there's a career minor league exception, doesn't Pino still have all of his options left?

This is my guess... Pino Down and infielder here quick. I'm not sure who they remove from the 40. New pitcher comes up when Plouffe comes off the DL.

If they DFA Pino, that creates the 40-man spot.

Yeah, he didn't look good trying to put full weight on it after he pulled into 2nd, it looked like a lot more than a ding. Hope to be proven wrong.

I suppose he does have all his options, but he is also a 30-year old career minor leaguer who doesn't throw that hard. At least Albers was a lefty.

I don't know if it is fact or not, but i am under the impression rhinos actually put fires out, or something like that. So maybe we should have a Rhino Pen, rather than a bull pen.

It was definitely a strange looking injury, you're right his inability to put much weight on it afterwards is concerning. It's pretty odd that it would be his ACL when he wasn't making any lateral, hard turns. ACL injuries are usually caused by hard cuts and starting and stopping quickly. Unless he had a minor tear to begin with.

I'm with you on that, JB. Margaritas are about the only thing I will drink anymore when I do have a drink. Wine? Fish eggs? <scrunches up nose> An occasional cold beer on a hot day, but I stop at one. And I might, might, have a glass of champagne to celebrate something fun, accompanied by fresh strawberries. But margaritas, yes, that's my 'go to.

Twins catchers/pitchers have now thrown out 7 of 54 potential base-stealers ... a percentage of .130. This must be the worst in the league, if not approaching the worst in history?
