Heckuva game, too.

And if you had bet that a team starting with "V" would win the CWS, you couldn't lose!

Berardino seeming to indicate a possibility for someone being called before tomorrow.

  • Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 9m
Did it last year right here w/Butera RT @johnwil08956134: @MikeBerardino Sorry, twins don't fly guys cross country to play a single game.

But isn't the problem that this was a pretty late night game on the east coast and tomorrow's game starts at 12:35 Pacific.

Pretty short timeline to get someone there.

They have to... I don't think they can wait for a Santana diagnosis. They need an IF in the air now.

An injury tomorrow to either Dozier, Escobar or Florimon will make the two catcher thing look silly.

If Florimon gets hurt right now for example... You are talking about Mauer or Hammer or Fryer playing 3B.

If Florimon gets hurt now for example, I wouldn't have to watch him bat anymore.

Red Wings were rained out in Scranton tonight so should have been on their way to Lehigh Valley

Anybody know about flights from Philly to LA? Or could be NY to LA, I guess.

While I would be fine with the DFA of Florimon, as long as he is on the 40-man, he was the best candidate to come up with the same-day injuries to Plouffe and Nuñez. The plan was to have P-Flo sit on the bench and maybe pinch run or fill in for an injury and that is exactly what he has done. For some one to be recalled and somebody on the 40-man is lost for the playing time that Florimon has seen is ridiculous. I suspect Santana will be on the disabled list already tomorrow. The team will be down to one CF, 1 SS, 1 2B, and 1 3B. That is intolerable. Who should be recalled? I dunno, as much as I hate the idea, I suppose Bernier would be the choice. He is versatile and is having a good year in Rochester. He's also 34 and I doubt he will be able to even match his meager numbers from last year. I hate the idea of seeing Sam Fuld in center field every day, but they have nothing else. The other option is Romero, who may have as good a bat as Colabello and plays third (worse than Plouffe). He could play third for the weekend with Escobar moving over to short (and he needs a day off). While it would be good to go with 12 pitchers, it isn't going to happen soon unless either Deduno or Swarzak is DFAed (I doubt that). The 40-man roster is a mess. The 25-man looks like it will be crippled because of a cluster of injuries to infielders. This might be when the club is no longer respectable. The margin for error has been narrow all year and this might be the breaking point.

Thank you! And concur to infinity!

Maybe I should bring my glove and cleats to tomorrow's game.

Something happens to an infielder tomorrow, it may be time for the great "Mauer at 3B" debut.

Edit: Well, duh, how did I miss RB's comment above?

BTW, to make room on the 40-man, the team could designate Pino, and actually they could just bring up a Bernier or Romero and temporarily go down to 12 pitchers. Then May or someone else could be recalled when it is time for Pino's turn. That way a DL trip for Santana could be delayed for a few days.

There are always flights to LA. And a charter jet would cost less than $10,000.

This is my guess... Pino Down and infielder here quick. I'm not sure who they remove from the 40. New pitcher comes up when Plouffe comes off the DL.

RB is what's called in baseball parlance, "sneaky fast".

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I can't imagine a knee injury that isn't serious enough to get the player a trip to the DL. It is strange that he pulled up while running straight ahead. I thought "cramp" or "hamstring" and when it was reported that he hurt his knee, all I can think is ACL.
