Bill Fischer threw 84.1 straight innings without a walk in 1962.

 

And 8 total in 127.2 innings pitched. With 38 strikeouts. Started about half his games despite being a career reliever/swing man. Who knows? If his streak coincided with his starts, he may have made Radke look like pre-spectacles Ricky Vaughn.

 

Let's hope the unspent payroll the last few years has been going to a black ops division of the Twins that's developing a time machine to go grab Fischer and see how a pitch-to-contact Hall of Famer would fare in today's game.

Bert can be a bit annoying in the booth but I will say that he really is a good guy. About 15 years ago I figured out his personal email and sent him a question. He responded the next day and thanked me for the sending him an email. So as much as I hate his dumb comments on air, I'll always remember that.
