Yes, we know the bullpen is pretty suspect, and the offense has been very hot & cold so far, but if the starting pitching doesn't get better, we also know we are in for another 90+ loss season. Sad part is we just have to hope it gets better as it's not like we have a lot of choices we can run out their in place of the guys currently struggling. Don't worry though, "Starting Pitching is a strength of the Team" according the GM prior to the season.

Lawrence George "Moose" Stubing had the same number of wins in his 8-game career managing the Angels as he had hits in his 5-game career playing for the Angels.

Wow. Confused the hell out of me until I saw the original post was dated April 29.

Ha, glad I read this before I wasted my time proving the initial statement utterly absurd. I figured it was a new thread too.

The Twins have only drafted 4 starting pitchers who have made an All-Star game with the team, and none since Brad Radke was drafted in 1991.

Like Mr. Lennon said: he is, quite literally, not half the man he used to be.

Wrong guy. That's a McCartney line.

In June of 1977, Rod Carew had triples in three consecutive games. No biggie? Four triples in five games? Six in nine games? How about eight triples in fourteen games?

More fun... Sir Rodney started that month at .365 and hit .486 throughout which brought his month-ending average to .411. He had three four-hit games, seven (more) three-hit games, five two-hit games for a total of fifteen multi-hit games in June. He went 0-4 against the Red Sox on June 4th and 0-3 against the Royals on the eighteenth. His triple slash was .486/.538/.775 for an OPS of 1.313.

Fun times.

The Twins have played the majority of the season like complete dog **** and yet still find themselves only 8.5 games out of first place, leading up until the all star break we have 3 vs CHI, 4 vs KC, 4 @ DET, 3 @ Tex.

If the Twins can win 9 or 10 of those 14 games (very doable) there is a decent chance they can go into the all-star break only down 5 games or so.

In Trevor Plouffe's first 60 AB's of this season, he had 1 HR. In his next 61 AB's he had 7. In his last 54, he has 7 HR's. By comparison, Jose Bautista's splits at those points in 2010: First 58 = 3, Next 61 = 3, Next 61 = 10.

Trevor Plouffe's first 175 AB's = 15 HR's

Jose Bautista's First 180 AB's = 16 HR's

So the .306 is his OBP? What's his average in that span just out of curiosity?
