Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 Oh Oh... And here comes Kubel
GSM Provisional Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Oh yeah, take this, "snob": "If you wanna know something and he won't tell you, cut off one of his fingers. The little one. Then tell him his thumb's next. After that he'll tell you if he wears ladies underwear. I'm hungry. Let's get a taco." Baseball movie? Bull Durham? (Guess)
Aggasiz Provisional Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 And a baseball one: "Clear the mechanism." Ha Costner. Ironically hes starring in a NFL movie that just opened today.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I'm having trouble too. Glad to know it's not just my connection going wonky. Wellll, on my computer (wireless) it has been terrible. I just switched to my iPhone and it's working fine. Go figure.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Until I see the holes in your hands, I'll remain a doubting Thomas. But I hope you're right. (About Plouffe, not about being crucified.) " [a line of prisoners files past a jailer] Coordinator: Crucifixion? Prisoner: Yes. Coordinator: Good. Out of the door, line on the left, one cross each. [Next prisoner] Coordinator: Crucifixion? Mr. Cheeky: Er, no, freedom actually. Coordinator: What? Mr. Cheeky: Yeah, they said I hadn't done anything and I could go and live on an island somewhere. Coordinator: Oh I say, that's very nice. Well, off you go then. Mr. Cheeky: No, I'm just pulling your leg, it's crucifixion really. Coordinator: [laughing] Oh yes, very good. Well... Mr. Cheeky: Yes I know, out of the door, one cross each, line on the left "

jokin Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Hold it - did we just knock Bruce Chen out of the game before out starter? In the fourth inning? This movie quote thing is good luck.... Oh Oh... And here comes Kubel These game threads are so much more fun when the Twins are on the AAA parts of their schedule.....
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 If you're going to do quotes, you have to get a bit creative. Quoting quotes from movies everyone has seen and everyone knows isn't original. C'mon man. (I'm a bit of a movie buff and a quote snob) "yeah, tell him about the twinkie."
mnfireman Verified Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Watching the game on MLB Gameday....looks like both teams are being squeezed by the home plate umpire. Might be helping the Twins offense though.
cmathewson Provisional Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 This Pinto kid looks good. Even when he's fooled, the ball flies off his bat.
cmathewson Provisional Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Watching the game on MLB Gameday....looks like both teams are being squeezed by the home plate umpire. Might be helping the Twins offense though. Gibson hasn't gotten the inside corner all night.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 This Pinto kid looks good. Even when he's fooled, the ball flies off his bat. What fictional movie is that quote from again?
John Bonnes Site Manager Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Watching the game on MLB Gameday....looks like both teams are being squeezed by the home plate umpire. Might be helping the Twins offense though. The Royals radio announcers were saying the same thing. They attributed both pitchers' high pitch counts to the umpire.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 (Catching up on the game...) It does look like we're hitting the ball. Plouffe does seem to be doing well. And Kubel too. (Though i think he smoked one off a left handed A's starter too, so not too surprising?) Anyway, I can't complain about the crooked numbers when we're not pitching.

John Bonnes Site Manager Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Hicks (coming into tonight) 6H/31 AB = .194 BA. But also 6 walks and just 6 Ks. Also, still big splits RH vs LH so far.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Ghostbusters Right on! (And movies are interesting, as i expect TD folk span a large enough group that not everyone has seen everything. I think i got ~2/3rds, but will be glad to learn what the rest are from)

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 "He's kinda funny lookin, in a general sort of way" Irony!!! Oh No No... we don't get that here.... people ski topless here while smoking dope... so irony's not really a high priority... We haven't had any irony here since about 83 when I was the only practitioner of it... And I stopped because I was tired of being stared at.
