I want the Twins to overspend....on

Twins Video

on Eduardo Escobar, the best and most important Twin in the last several years. As a latin player he can probably be effective to his late 30 s , His dugout presence is worth a majority of the money, I heard a player say, that when he was traded from the White Sox, it was the first time he had seen MLB players cry. Thats how I felt too...but on the flip side, if you can get 3 respectable prospects AND resign him, what a coup that would be huh?

Anyway Falvine, overspend on him bring him home and let his career end in the Cities, Agree?

......

Yeah, what does that mean? That's a super weird statement.

Good point. Asian guys like Albert Pujols always seem to break down once they hit 35.

I like Escobar. Still need infielder, unless w are going to a really radical shift philosophy next year. I'd be glad to have him back.

Realistically, the Twins will make their list of priorities and Esco's agent will collect offers. The adds for resigning him are about 1 in 30.

I wonder if the MIs we have in MiLB will affect trying to sign Escobar. He will likely want a 3 year contract (at minimum).

What are the Twins thinking of as a timeline for Lewis, Javier, etc.?

I hope they either sign him or let us know why they don't go after him hard.

Two things.

You want the player to be their best in a season from now, at the least, to benefit the Twins most, as well as a couple of seasons after that.

Second, the player will have to want to play in Minnesota.

You can argue that the Twins have overspent on many of the free agents they have signed, including Santana, Nolasco, and the ilk.

SHould he Twins go all out and get the BEST free agent possible? Rather than overpay what someone else might underpay?

I love Escobar but this looks like a classic overpay candidate.

A manager.

I prefer to think outside the box.

NO - I am in disagreement with the premise.  Build a base like the Astros did.  Find out what our young players can do and then when they are ready fill in the holes and spend money.  Spending now blocks development - that's what we did this year.

I hope the Twins find a way to acquire additional international money and spend more in that area.

I actually could see Escobar returning to Arizona, but even if he doesn’t, I really don’t see Falvine bringing Esco back.

While don’t think we should be chasing Bryce or Manny, I don’t think we should be bottom feeders when we have a such a historic free agent class right in front of us.

As faithful Twins fans, we should expect nothing more, yet nothing less, than Elvis Andrus and Adam Ottavino.
