Who IS This Guy? Shipley is a former shortstop that only moved to the mound full-time last year. He is still among the top 10 talents in the draft because of his low-effort delivery and the effectiveness of some of his pitches. His recent performances for Nevada have him moving quickly up the draft boards. In the past, he has hit 99 mph with his fastball but he is more consistently in the 92-95 mph range. His best pitch is his changeup, which counters his fastball nicely. His change sits 83-86
Originally posted at Kevin Slowey was Framed! Hello again, Twins Daily. We are getting closer and closer to draft day. With a little over a week left until the Twins make their next draft choices, I present to you my recaps from 2001, 2002, and 2003. Just click the years to see which of those three drafts was the most handsome. Here is 2004: The 2003 draft produced Scott Baker and heartache. First-round pick Matt Moses never reached the Majors, marking the 3rd time in 6 years where t
It has been four seasons since Carlos Gomez last wore the uniform of the Minnesota Twins. At that point in his career, he was a hotshot 23-year old outfielder that was heading to his third club in four years. The defensive side of the ball was his calling card and his offensive game still looked to be in the infant stages. The Twins acquired Gomez as the top prospect in the famous deal that sent Johan Santana to the New York Mets. He would play 290 games in Minnesota while hitting .248/.293/.3
Originally posted at The Tenth Inning Stretch --- I started the Twins mock 2013 draft a week ago, suggesting that they should select Sean Manaea with their first round and fourth overall pick. A couple days ago I presented the second to fifth round picks for the Twins in this mock draft, and now I am concluding with picks from the 6th to the 12 round. As I indicated in the first pick presentation, like every single other mock drafts out there, unless someone can see all the draft bo
Originally posted at Kevin Slowey was Framed! The Twins lost three of four from the Tigers this weekend and have now lost eleven of their last twelve. Yikes. After flirting with .500 through six weeks, the Twins now have the second worst record in the American League. The Twins are 11th in runs scored and 11th in runs allowed. Bad combo, bro. The dream has died, as this team doesn't appear to have the talent to hover at .500 for a full season. The Front Office had a busy week too. Here i

He was born in Winchester, Illinois and signed with the St. Louis Browns as a free agent in 1949. His career shows how the minors have changed over the years. He pitched well for two seasons in Class D for the Browns, throwing 241 innings there in Appleton in 1950. He m
On the best Minnesota Twins podcast, Aaron and John talk about the Twins' free fall, options for the No. 4 pick in the draft with Twins Daily's Jeremy Nygaard, a ton of roster changes including losing Joe Benson, sending down Oswaldo Arcia, not calling up Kyle Gibson, what happened to Justin Morneau's power, Chris Parmelee in center field, leveraging Glen Perkins, a WHOLE lot more about the draft and meeting listeners at the Apple Store. Twins at Tigers 10 Pins Fall Down (Game 44) I asked the score if I should watch the Twins game. The score said no, and I had no regrets about spending some time with my wife, my friend, and an awful movie called The Greenskeeper. The formerly infamous John Rocker, pitcher, played the killer. It’s on Netflix. In the ninth inning, we watched our phones to make sure the Twins avoided getting no-hit. Following a baseball team has very few real-life side effects. Getting no-hit can really
After ending their 11 game losing streak on Saturday, the Twins couldn't make it two wins in a row. The Tigers offense pounced on Mike Pelfrey for five runs on five hits in less than six innings of work. The offense didn't help him out much with three hits and a single run on the board. There were a few different story lines to follow in the minors so let's see what went down! Here are my rankings for the players in the Twins minor league system. Talent and positional value are the biggest factors, while age and league are minor factors. In addition, draft position and size also have some impact. Normally I'd like to use 50, but after 35 I didn't think there were enough worthy of even being considered a prospect. Recently departed Joe Benson is off and so is Aaron Hicks after reaching the 130 AB benchmark. Hope you enjoy and possibly learn a new name! 1. Byron Buxto
Also posted at wgom.org Joe Altobelli (1932) Chris Latham (1973) Kevin Mulvey (1985) Outfielder/first baseman Joseph Salvatore Altobelli played for the Twins for about two months in 1961. Born and raised in Detroit, Altobelli signed with Cleveland as a free agent in 1951. He had decent but unspectacular numbers in the minors, but he certainly was there a long time; Joe Altobelli played all or part of thirteen seasons at AAA. The best of those seasons were 1960, when he hit .255 with 31 h
After a period of stability, the Twins have made a rash of moves. Many of the moves have been panned by the denizens of Twins Daily for being shortsighted, cheap, stupid or all of the above. Some are calling out the GM for saying the team was trying to compete when, in fact, they are rebuilding and focusing on next year or the year after. News flash! The team isn't going to contend this year. Ryan's "contention" talk was predicated on miraculous performances by pitchers who have been much
Originally posted at Kevin Slowey was Framed! I had intended to run some errands this afternoon, but then I saw this tweet: Joe Benson is a member of the Texas Rangers organization... — Seth Stohs (@SethTweets) May 25, 2013 I was confused, but I knew this was an option. The Twins needed a 40-man spot for the immortal P.J. Walters, and Benson has been injured or terrible ever since his 2011 September call-up. Even in earning his 2011 promotion, he had basically played two full seasons a

I am not a follower of Donald Trump. I have participated in several no kings rallies and am disgusted with what he and his followers have done to our country and the world. I would like to know what most Brazilians feel about the United States now and about the folks our citizens have elected to represent us.
