Time to Bring Back CES? He's on Waivers

The Reds DFA'd former Twin Christian Encarnacion-Strand (aka CES) for assignment today, His overall MLB stats are not great, but not horrible, and he is a RH hitting 1B. Probably as good as or better than Wagaman, and with more power potential. What does everyone think about bringing him back? It looks like he has one option remaining for 2026 and is in AAA now., although it's a little unclear. He's available on waivers and would need a 40 man spot if called up but not now. I say why not? Wagama

What's the best logical fallacy?

I started to be snarky and post this to a particular thread that was annoying me.  But I thought twice, and will post it here, in a vacuum. What's The Best Logical Fallacy? A famous Logic professor told me the Appeal to Authority Fallacy is the best. Anyone who doesn't say the Ad Hominem Fallacy is best is a poopyhead. Argument from Repetition Fallacy is the best. Repetition. Argument from. Best. Begging the Question Fallacy is the be

Confidence in ABS

The Athletic had an article today that some data I had seen before but couldn’t recall. According to MLB the ABS system is 95% confident that the ABS is no more than 0.39 inches from its predicted location. It is 99% confident that it is no more than .48 inches from its predicted location. That makes me wonder if MLB should be overturning calls that are within a half inch or four tenths of an inch. They could be overturning a human call that is actually correct. Perhaps it should be la

Pen Options

I figured with spring training starting and all of the pitcher signings, someone should list all of our potential bullpen candidates going into spring training and lets see how we think the pen will do.  One thing I can say is we definitely have options and depth for this season.  Which relievers do you see making an impact for the club this year? And who would you take north at this point?  Twins Bullpen 2026 Rogers Sands Topa Funderburk Orze Banda Festa

Intro: The Plan

I've mentioned it a few times around here the last year or so, but I will be having a fun little adventure this summer and enjoying a game in every team's home park. I chose this summer so I could also enjoy a World Baseball Classic game or 2. Since I know you all can't get enough of my thoughts, feelings, and opinions on all things baseball, I figured I'd start a blog and share the journey with you. This first entry is to lay out the plan for you so you can see what it's going to look like and

Falvey and Degree of Difficulty

Since Falvey and the Twins have parted ways, a narrative is starting to be shared that Falvey wanted out and that the job is no longer the one he signed up for in 2016 and that the degree of difficulty had gone up.  Listening to the most recent episode of Gleeman and the Geek the guys said: “From Falvey’s perspective, the parameters of his job have kept getting worse and worse the past 3 years” The frustrating thing about this is while the payroll has decreased since 2023 and that has

Most intriguing Twins going into 2026

Lopez, Ryan, Ober, Buxton, Keaschall, Abel, Bradley, Jenkins. Just a few names Twins fans are either familiar with or will be by the end of the 2026 season.  The Twins have major league talent. Thats not a doubt. But how much of their 2026 success will come from some players that may not be necessarily familiar to the casual fan, but whose names they hopefully learn quickly. Lets take a look at the most intriguing Twins players heading into this season: 1. Pablo Lopez Ace. Veteran

New data analytics

The Twins are in need of a dynamic cultural shift.  While I think the Twins COULD compete this year as currently constituted, I am an eternal optimist.  I believe Lewis can return to his brief MVP type form, I believe Wallner can absolutely MASH, I believe Keaschall can be the real deal, I believe Buxton can be healthy again and have another productive year. that is nearly half of a potent lineup right there. The Twins want to win, but they also need to win back fans. They need to strategic

Big Changes Coming Twins Way!!

Having zero inside knowledge, it still seems abundantly clear there were major differences in opinion between Falvey and ownership.  Usually this comes down to profitability vs winning. Just look at the waves of speculation. Speculation can always be wrong, but some speculation was based on facts. Initially It was anticipated that the Twins would move potentially multiple players.  Larnach was expected to have been moved. Larnach is a redundant peice yet we then pivoted to signing him

Twins Trade INF Edouard Julien and RHP Pierson Ohl for RHP Jace Kaminska

Today the Minnesota Twins announced they traded INF Edouard Julien and RHP Pierson Ohl for RHP Jace Kaminska and Cash Considerations. Kaminska, 24, missed the entirety of the 2025 season due to Tommy John surgery, but had a great season for Low-A Fresno in 2024 recording a 2.78 ERA in 87 1/3 innings of work while striking out 10.7/9IP. Kaminska was drafted in the 10th round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of the University of Nebraska where he had a 4.13 ERA over 15 starts for the Cornhuskers, so

The Twins Need a Different Strategy for Developing Players

The success of the coming season will be determined by how well the Twins develop their young players. As soon as I first wrote that sentence it was followed by the thought, “We’re doomed. The only development we seem to have done in the last few years has been to get hitters to swing wildly at pitches outside of the strike zone when they’ve got two strikes.” But is that really the case? I’m defining development as how well we turn promising minor league prospects into major league players.

Joe Ryan to Yankees: Who says no?

The New Twins FO has stated Ryan is one who will NOT be traded, that being said Rumors continue to swirl.  It is pretty obvious that Joe Ryan will not sign a long-term deal in Minnesota.  It has been reported that he wanted out at last years deadline. It is also clear that the Twins by not agreeing to a pre-arb deal over $500K have no interest in keeping him, or at least keeping him happy. At this point if nothing is done, Ryan has 2 ARB years with the Twins then hits FA with at best a QO.  That

Reverse Engineering a Trevor Larnach Trade

The Twins have not done much, for good or for bad, to alter their OF/DH depth.  Yes Twins signed Josh Bell. Another reclamation project who could be decent. Actually not a bad move given our situation and history, but not a game changer. Yes Twins signed Victor Caratini, again maybe another slight upgrade at back up C and possible 1B ABs, but again no game changer. The Twins still have redundancy issues and need to clear space at some time this year for a potential Tsunami of young OF. Emma

Rockies sign Former Twins Utility Man Willi Castro to a 2-year Deal.

Today it was reported that the Colorado Rockies have signed UTL Willi Castro to a 2-year deal worth $12.8 Million dollars. Castro was traded to the Chicago Cubs during the Twins infamous 2025 Trade Deadline for two pitching prospects in Ryan Gallagher and Sam Armstrong. Castro struggled immensely in the 2nd half batting only .161 with a -0.5 WAR. It got so bad that he was even left out of the Cubs 2025 Playoff roster. Castro is looking to have a much needed bounce back season with the Rockies an

Twins DFA UTL Mickey Gasper, Claim INF Vidal Brujan off Waivers.

Today the Minnesota Twins announced that they have designated utility man Mickey Gasper for assignment and claimed infielder Vidal Brujan from the Braves. Gasper was acquired in a trade with the Red Sox last year that sent LHP Jovoni Moran to the Red Sox in exchange for UTL Mickey Gasper.  Most Twins fans didn't care much for the trade considering Moran didn't pitch with the big league club in 2024 and that Gasper was a rookie at 29 and didn't record a hit in his 18 at-bats in 2024. Gasper looke

Byron Buxton to Play for Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic

Today it was announced that Twins slugger Byron Buxton will join Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Buxton joins an already stacked Outfield with Corbin Carroll (AZ) Pete Crow-Armstrong (CHC) Aaron Judge (NYY) and Kyle Schwarber (PHI). As of right now there is no confirmed starting roster but if I was Team USA Manager Mark DeRosa, I would put the Outfield together like this - LF Corbin Carroll CF Byron Buxton RF Aaron Judge DH Kyle Schwarber with Pete Crow-Armstrong on the bench. Target Field home run leader popped for PED's

Today former Minnesota Twins player Max Kepler was suspended 80 games for the 2026 season and is ineligible for the 2026 Postseason after being caught positive with Epitrenbolone which according to the USADA is a metabolite of trenbolone, an anabolic steroid. Kepler, now 32-years-old just finished his 1-year deal for $10 million with the Philadelphia Phillies slashing .216/.300/.391 in his worst full season as a Major Leaguer only garnering a 0.1 WAR in 127 games. As mentioned in the title Keple

3 Twins Prospects to be Excited About in 2026

While the Twins had their worst season in almost a decade in 2025, they have a much brighter future than they did back then. With many talented prospects either acquired from trades or home-grown’s emerging as potential play-makers. These 3 prospects intrigue me the most though as a Twins fan. 1. Walker Jenkins To start this out you have to mention Walker Jenkins, the 2023 High School draftee from South Brunswick HS, North Carolina, Jenkins is a very exciting prospect for the Minnesota

What to make of Orlando Arcia and the Eric Wagaman moves.

On Friday the Twins went out and struck a deal with the Miami Marlins trading LHP Kade Bragg for 1B Eric Wagaman. Wagaman who just completed his rookie season at age 28 is a solid backup for the Twins for 2026, Wagaman doesn't hit for power, or average really. But having him on the bench is better than not having a backup. Kade Bragg, the return for Miami was drafted by the Twins in the 17th round of the 2023 Draft out of Angelo State University. Bragg had a very solid season out of the pen for

Letter to Santa

Dear Santa, Here’s my list of some gifts you could give this Christmas. To Joe Pohlad:  Season tickets to the St. Paul Saints, maybe after a stint in the minors he’ll get called back to the big leagues. To Latroy Hawkins:  Arms To Joe Ryan:  A contract extension with a clause (Not you Santa, I mean a part of the contract.) that he won’t be pulled out of games where he has a no hitter going until he goes over 140 pitches. If he is pulled, they won’t put in a reliever who gave

Does Baltimore signing Alonso impact the Twins?

Just a quick question... With Baltimore signing Pete Alonso, could this make a potential trade for Adley Rutschman more of a reality? Rutschman is somewhat redundant to Jeffers, both roughly the same lifetime stats, both roughly the same age, both expected to make roughly the same amount of money, The main differences being Rutschman is a switch hitter though vs Jeffers being a righty and Rutschman is going into Arb2 year and Jeffers Arb 3.  Twins could keep them both fresh by platooni

Rosenthal/Hayes : Twins will not trade Buxton, Ryan or Lopez this offseason

Pretty big news out of The Athletic yesterday.  Quoting inside sources, Rosenthal(with Dan Hayes contributing) reported that the Twins do not plan to trade any of the big 3; instead, they plan on contending in 2026 by relying on the core and adding some pieces.   Naturally, this brought an out pouring of vitriol from Twin fans who have, rightly so, long dismissed anything positive coming from the FO/Pohlads.  And while nothing is cast in concrete, Rosenthal and Hayes are well-respected reporters
