  1. Was that Javier's best game with the bat this season? And after such a great summer with the bat, Wallner went 0-24 in six playoff games. That sure didn't help. Since the Twins moved from Beloit to Cedar Rapids, it seemed nearly every year the Kernels lineup was filled with well known top prospects. When I looked at their roster this year, those type of prospects just weren't there. Considering this team made it to the semi-finals says that both management and the players on the field had one hell of a season. Congrats. And a last big thank you to you and the rest of your group at TD for bringing us this information every day.
  2. Always interesting seeing this group rated by TD. Thought that Wallner had a great season before going cold this past week in the playoffs. Would have liked ot see Garry, Jr. maintain his early season streak, but that wasn't to be. Have you heard anything from the player's about the improvements the City made to Joe O'Brien Field in Elizabethton? And this year was certainly an outlier with Elizabethton not making the playoffs. When did that last happen?
  3. Personally, I am gonna sit back and enjoy Twins baseball the next few weeks. Will they be playing in October? We will see how it goes the next couple three weeks. When I finished reading the paper this morning and learned of the extent of injuries to Buxton, Kepler, Sano, etc., etc., nothing is certain. Whether it is October 1st or following the first playoff series, gonna look back and smile when thinking of perhaps the most enjoyable Twins season I have ever seen. Then on to 2020!!!
  4. I guess Ober to the IL explains why he didn't start either of the last two games. Any news of how serious the injury is? Great series for Kirilloff. Even with all the injuries it doesn't make sense to call him up. He wouldn't be available for the play offs and doesn't need to be added to the 40-man this November. But it should be exciting next summer when he does break in with the Twins. Wallner sure hit a wall in the playoffs. And Javier hit like he did throughout the year. Amazing that the Kernels are in position to win tonight and go on to the finals for a second straight year. Sure seems to be a nice relationship building between the Kernels and Twins.
  5. When that game ended, I said "that's the nail in the coffin." Now two more good whacks with the hammer and the nail will be set and the coffin will be permanently closed. With today's game counting as two in the magic number game, those two whacks could come today.
  6. Surprised Ober didn't start last night, so gotta believe he will start tonight for the Wahoos, right? When you look at the Cedar Rapids roster, these kids have gone beyond anything I would have expected. Here's to their winning two straight and getting to the finals. And can you believe what Kirilloff is doing? Four games, average something over .400 and a home run in each game. I know he doesn't have to be added to the 40-man until a year from now and it isn't likely he will get the call, but could he play a role for the Twins this year?
  7. Tough loss. Lots of would'a, could'a, should'a to second guess. Time to move on to tonight, which becomes a huge start for Odorizzi and the bomba bats.
  8. Did I see somewhere that Kirilloff won't be going to the AFL? Was he replaced by Raley? What a run for Kirilloff. If the Twins lose Cave and Cruz, could it be possible they call up Kirilloff this weekend? Kind of like they did with Kubel back when. What a night with two big wins. Are the Midwest League semi-finals a 5 game series? You haven't listed it above, but will Ober be starting for P'Cola tonight?
  9. OK, I'll admit it. I like Rosario, really like him. Have liked him since that summer long ago when I checked the box score down at ETon every day to see whether he or Sano had hit a home run. Also think he is one of the core players of this team, both on and off the field. Will you admit you don't like him?
  10. Seeing this has been dump on Eddie week, there is something else I have noticed. When the Twins have a win with their RBK outfield playing, the player's meeting in center is different than when one or more are missing. Just more alive, more energy. Could be 100% wrong, but I believe there is a huge risk to this team should they trade any of the three. So many players/coaches talk about team chemistry. Take away a key part of the core of the group could cause the team to go flat next year, couldn't it?
  11. I find it hard to believe, but I know almost nothing about most of the guys listed in today's report. Hopefully, a couple will work their way up to being key members of a future Twins bullpen. Will Vizcaya have the opportunity to pick up three saves this weekend? Is it Vizcaya or Vizcayal, as printed on the above photo?
  12. Nice start from Canterino, not so nice from Jax. Is Raley replacing Kirilloff more about Raley getting some at bats than about Kirilloff? Or maybe having Raley be seen by scouts to increase his value this winter? The Kernels need to win a big game #3, while the Wahoos have their back against the wall. Only way to dig out of that is to win tonight.
  13. Pitchers duel in Boston and Perez came out the winner. Arraez playing shortstop with La Tortuga getting several late innings at second and the defense is solid, 100% solid. Arraez gets the Twins first hit, plus a later walk, and La Tortuga has the game winning pinch hit. Finally, the game ends with a drive off the Monster, unfortunately for the Sox the Twins left fielder was Eddie, Eddie, Eddie! Hell fo a game.
  14. Thanks for bringing us these monthly awards, Seth. There isn't much left to say about Ober. Only question, can he continue pitching like this at AAA and then with the Twins. Don't know, but sure would be nice. We don't have much to base it on, but Canterino looks like he might be another real nice second round pick. Long way from Cedar Rapids to Target Field, will he make the entire journey? Where do you see Balazovic at the end of the 2020 season, Seth? When looking at this group I have to believe that there are several pitchers in the pipeline who will make an impact for the Twins. Question remains who and when? And this group didn't include Graterol, Alcala, Jax, Colina and a few others who are awfully nice prospects.
  15. Isn't it great seeing Kirilloff go 2-5 with a double and grand slam home run. Add three hits from Lewis and we can hope these two will become what we hoped for the Twins by 2021 Nice start by Rijo. Really need Jax and Canterino to step up big tonight..
  16. Free Eddie. I say let him play as he does. We all know he will get on one of those hot streaks. Wouldn't it be great if the next one started around the last day of the regular season. He could carry the team through the first two rounds all the way to the World Series. Eddie...Eddie...Eddie!
  17. Great results last night. Way to scarry getting there. Thought Thorpe showed us what type of pitcher he can be for three innings last night. Was wondering when the last time was that he pitched more than 3.0 innings? May have something to do with his fifth inning struggle. Still only gave up a couple singles and would have looked so much better had May not thrown another curve ball to a lefty home run hitter. Look for Lewis to be in the Twins rotation in 2020.
  18. Yup, I forgot that the year he was drafted wasn't a full year of service time as far as minor league free agency is concerned.
  19. I expect the FO to surprise all of us later this year. After they have gotten through any discussions with all three of Odorizzi, Gibby and Pineda, I look for them to complete a major trade with someone for a young starter who is a legit #2 or #3 starter. As for who that may be, that's what all those guys getting checks from the Twins is for. When you look at this lineup and the players knocking on the door, they have assets available for a move, a big one.
  20. The biggest question for me when I finished reading this is: What does the future hold for Zander Wiel? Will the Twins add him to their 40-man roster? With all the competition for spots, unlikely in my opinion. That makes him eligible for the Rule 5 draft. Does he get taken by someone? Don't know whether that is likely or not, maybe some of you have a better opinion than I. If he isn't taken and isn't added, he would be back with the Twins for one more year before being a minor league free agent. One more shot to take that last step with the Twins? That is unless he would be included in an off season trade for a pitcher?
  21. Without looking at numbers, I recall Harper being very good for much of the season, surprisingly good. Don't know whether the league figured him out, or he was a little out of synch. Makes sense to bring him back, work with him and see if he has found that first half stuff...hopefully, in low leverage situations.
  22. That makes a very croweded bulpen. Expect the one to see the most action could be Hildenberger. All it will take is one great first outing for him to get back into the mix for the 5th or 6th innings. Got a feeling it will be more of a coaching experience for Romero.
  23. Thanks guys, all your work is appreciated. There is an old farmer saying, "the cream always rises to the top." As the Kernels begin their playoff run, maybe, just maybe that will apply to Mr. Javier. After what has to have been a most trying season, wouldn't a fantastic finish be wonderfful for this young man. So let's go, Wander. Set that stick on fire and lead the Kernels to the promised land! And Baily Ober for Mayor, or Governor, or President, or something.
  24. Count me among those who believe the Twins will attempt to resign/extend/QO to all three, Gibson, Pineda and Odorizzi. Gibby may be a one year offer for about what he made this year to see where his body is at next year. Pineda and Odorizzi would be longer offers. If they decline, wouldn't surprise me to see a QO to both or either.
