  1. Yes....there is certainly a chance that we are firmly in the 'bargaining' stage of grief as a country....perhaps a big chance...
  2. Great humor as always! (though currently only the second funniest article on TD, ranking slightly behind the one that posits Royce Lewis as a potential MLB replacement this year for emergency )
  3. Royce Lewis is not even close to an option. He will have plenty on his plate trying to succeed in AA. There is A LOT of work left to do. At this point he has more potential to be a bust that to be an emergency replacement for a Buxton injury in the MLB this season or next
  4. Sooner or later, Kepler will be entrenched in the 3rd spot in the order, and dominate there.
  5. Sano is missing.....and with all due respect to thorpe, he is 1b to Buxton's 1a..... if they both get going.....it may not even be fair for other teams
  6. This is just a huge, huge year for Lewis. Tools or not, by any metric, he had an awful season (a strike out to walk ratio of 3:1 stands out most to me which really should have nothing to do with the batting in Florida) The majority of scouting reports that I have seen are concerned about his swing as he moves up in difficulty. Most, if not all (I'm open to examples) MLB superstars did not endure such a disaster of a season in the low/mid minors. Yes he is young, yes there was a glimmer of hope in the small sample size of the AFL, yes he is a wonderful human being by all accounts, BUT a sustained poor performance in A ball IS concerning for an overall#1 pick. This is SUCH a big year for him....and I am SO rooting for him!
  7. Totally agree. I feel like we underappreciated Rosario here at TD overall, but quite simply his cost is quickly surpassing his production while Larnach will likely have a VERY NICE cost/production ratio come 2021!
  8. Yikes....I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.... Nice idea though and great article!
  9. Beat me to it..... Barring some chronic injury that we are not aware of, I feel like Romero just has waaaaay to much talent to go away this quickly.... That being said, players with waaaaay too much talent have gone away quickly many, many, many times before....
  10. I think the trade is a referendum on Graterol's change up. I believe the FO was not confident in the long term development of the third pitch and hense his ability to start. If they believe the in his ability to develop the third pitch, no way is he traded
  11. I think May further develops as an elite bullpen arm while there is regression for all the others (or not even pitching like Hill). We'll end up missing May the most if we don't keep him.
  12. He is my #1...premium player who looks to stick at a premium position. Absolutely think Kirilloff is the real deal too but SP is just sooooo important. I remain very concerned about Lewis
  13. High floor and I can't even see the ceiling.... This is what happens when hard work and intelligence meet innate talent... Good on him!
  14. I'm signing back in at 11:16 PM tonight SQUIRREL just to read what promises to be a brilliant post
  15. Kudos to the to FO from a previous critic My issues previously had been that they would not sign a high price free agent nor take risks by trading high level prospects for current MLB talent. They have now done both. Maybe it works, and maybe it doesn't.... but I very much applaud them for taking calculated risk to get better!
  16. As I predicted.....another throw in of a prospect outside of our top 20 to get it done. I did miss the additional wrinkle of the Dodgers separating the deals to allow the Sox to save face and the Twins to add a piece without looking like they were capitulating to the Sox demand.
  17. All posturing..... The Twins (or Dodgers) will end up adding a throw away prospect outside of our/their top 20 to get it done while giving the Red Sox the appearance of saving face (when in reality they will have gotten nothing more of value). No question that it is absolute amateur hour going on in the Red Sox organization and that this could have a negative impact on their future dealings.
  18. Great post. I would highlight that bullpen depth in AAA could become essential when/if the rotation strings together too many outings of 5 inning pitched or less....which is a a definite concern with the rotation as currently constructed (eh, cough...Odo and two rookies... eh cough).
  19. I think that this is more a referendum on his change up than a 'win now' philosophy. If his change up was MLB ready, there is no question in my mind that he would begin the season as a starter and then perhaps transition to the bullpen when Pineda and/or Hill were ready (to conserve innings at that point). The coaches clearly don't think the change up is MLB ready. Therefore providing value in the bullpen as one of the organizations 13 best pitchers is the way to go! Hopefully our pitching whisperers will work their magic during practice throughout the season... because it is pitch development and not innings progression that will ultimately determine his fate.
  20. Kudos to the FO! (from someone who was hyper critical of their FA performance previously) They still need to pull a rabbit out of the hat to solidify our SP rotation which will now realistically need to be developed by our elite internal coaching. Could happen, but either way, that line up is going to be CRAZY fun to watch. Fingers Crossed
  21. I'm worried that Odorizzi is going to have a major regression.... very worried. And we just don't have any buffer worked into our 2 pitcher + prospects plan for our starting rotation breaking out of camp. I just seems like a big risk right now. But, even if the SP rotation implodes, boy o boy o boy that line up will be FUN to watch every-single-night
  22. Nice Post....Could not agree more with the optics of haggling over $375,000 with the player you hope to be the face of the team for years to come. Even if this is posturing in the greater picture of extension negotiations, it is still crazy. Just @#$%-ing crazy!
  23. Disagree. Gibby's colitis will be just fine on immunosuppression. And he is more talented than Bailey..and 10mil per year is pretty cheap for potentially a #3 SP
