  1. Anyone who watched the Twins win the near-consensus-best-World-Series-in-history with a 10 inning complete game shut out knows the answer... He may be the best free agent signing ever (went to Toronto to pick up another). What an absolute stud he was
  2. Wow...and then there were two....Berrios and The Odo (70s cop show)....and unfortunately those two are not Viola and Blyleven and... I've seen Les Straker...and Gibson and Perez...(currently) you are no Les Straker...so hard to really make the '87 comparison.... The Twins playoff series could be many things but boring will not be one of them
  3. A reasonable plan, but the fact that it is one of our better options if very concerning for our chances in the playoffs.... If we play the Yankees, it will be the first ever homerun hitting contest taking place in the playoffs instead of the allstar break
  4. Yes...May has been a very pleasant surprise over the last month or so .....since I made a snarky comment to one of Nick's articles where he suggested that he was on the cusp. Why can't I quit you snarky comments.....and more importantly...why don't I even want to....
  5. Pick me....pick me....(waiving my hand furiously) Hell yes he needs to be on the post season roster and... ....HELL YES he needs to be a starter in 2020. hint...the Ownership is not going to drop 150 mil plus for an elite FA pitcher (we just got overbid by a crazy offer...again!...we'll get them next time) ... and the FO does not appear to be inclined to trade any of their real prospects (my precious...oh my precious) so...let's just say there is A LOT riding on his and a select few others progression
  6. Oh I think they are already buried,..but I'm all for shoveling another load of dirt on them tomorrow for good measure!
  7. Great for Berrios.... But any news on his velo in the game? Only 4 Ks....and if the velo is not back up this may only be a blip. If the velo is coming back up then Yeeee Haaaaah!
  8. While I consistently lament on TD, that they have clung to tight to their prospects at the expense of starting pitching (Minor at the deadline...haven't brought that up in a week)... They have done a wonderful job, plain and simple; especially with personnel and infrastructure (Though Cruz didn't hurt). Certainly also chose to extend the right people so far as well.....and overall their drafts seem to be shaping up nicely.
  9. If Kirilloff stays healthy.....we are going to have a nice trade chip for starting pitching in our current outfield
  10. Again, Hydrochlorothiazide is a prescription medication that does not just accidentally make its way into over the counter supplements. Dehydration is not advantageous for an elite athlete....just ask Gibson he likely has had to fight against it with his Chron's disease. He would need to be counterbalancing with aggressive hydration (through knowledge of what he was doing to himself) to maintain his performance (which has been surprisingly good as of late) This is not that complicated. Though Malcolm Gladwell just released a book about how human beings tend to defer toward believing what be people say over logic. So maybe this story could be added to the paperback This is not complicated
  11. Twins best chance of obtaining better starting pitching is through trades. Our owner/FO are not interested in "overpaying." With market competition, the winner will ultimately "overpay" for these starters. Ergo, we will not get any of these. Which is fine, but, as I've stated numerous time, if we are not willing to "overpay" in money, for quality staring pitching, we need to be willing to "overpay" in prospects in a trade. Quality starting pitching very very very rarely comes at a reasonable cost, and when it does, it does so largely through luck. Let's not depend on luck shall we? Time to loosen the vice like grip on our prospects. Then window is open now
  12. Diuretics are absolutely used to dilute urine and mask illegal substances. Hydrochlorothiazide is a prescribed medication and not some common dietary supplement that just pops up in lots of over the counter supplement products and is taken "accidentally." (testosterone and its analogues can randomly be found in over the counter dietary supplements) Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat high blood pressure and in people that don't have high blood pressure, could cause dizziness and dehydration (especially in August). One would only take that chance to obtain some other potential substantial gain. Armed with that information, I'll leave it to everyone to make their own conclusion. To me it is pretty clear what happened.
  13. 3 walks from Sano.... LOVE IT! I was really down on him around the time of Parker's first breakdown of his swing but man he has really gotten his plate approach together...and he is the type of wildcard that we need if we are to get some upsets in the playoffs
  14. Also Lewis had BETTER numbers last year at "A" than this year and he was EVEN YOUNGER then!
  15. He has been dropping in rankings overall. And Law expressed concerns in his last assessment. I think the FO has done a fine job overall but step one is to admit you have a problem
  16. Uh?! At some point results have to dictate reality right? If Lewis starts in Rochester next year, his new nick name can be Delusion of Granduer! Lewis is light years away from Larnach and Kirilloff based on any metric except wishful thinking for a #1 overall pick.
  17. Good thought experiment, but I tend to feel that we have to overpay to get established free agent pitching in MN and given the free agent market, I think the big boys will be outbidding us by a long shot even if we try to overpay (which we will not)
  18. You are technically correct, but... 1. WOOF; That SP list is for a 70 win team. And 2. A QO is good for contract negotiations and with a draft pick as a fall back. Odo will almost certainly be offered at least a 3 year deal for 30+mil so he will either sign a long term contract with us or we get a draft pick. Same for Pineda. 3. Please never mention Perez in the context of a future Twins SP again
  19. I'm sorry but but I must point out again that the emperor is currently wearing no cloths. I voiced concerns about Lewis in May and was told there were no problems. So now that it is September....lets look at AVE, OBP, and SO/BB ratios over time 2018 "A" (last half season): 0.255, 0.726, <2.0 2019 "A" (first half season): 0.238, 0.665, >3.0 (which earned a promotion ?!?!) 2019 "AA" (last half season) 0.231, 0.649, 3.0 exactly (so based on history ready for another promotion?!) This is not the trajectory of a future superstar. I'm not an expert and do not know what is wrong with his swing/approach, BUT it is clear to anyone without bias that something is wrong. One Theory: They are trying to revamp his swing for a better launch angle and it is failing miserably. Earlier this year Buck was quoted as saying that he was going to hit HIS way this year (which makes me wonder if they were trying to revamp his swing as well for HR/launch angle...... ) Retooling for a better launch angle is good for some but not all!
  20. Into September. I for one will no longer lament what I wish we had (Minor). We've got what we are going to have...and hopefully enough for the WS! I'm going to transition into blind faith fandom for the rest of the season and enjoy the ride.... LET'S GO!
  21. Love the auditions for relief pitching going on in Rochester...and like the results from tonight there even more....
