  1. The Twins have the worst record vs left-handed starters in the league.
  2. Pry Taylor Walls away from the Rays. Franco is the Ray's shortstop of the now and future which moved Walls back to AAA. Could possibly hold down the Twin's shortstop position for a few years. Switch hitter with a decent bat, decent speed, decent glove. can take a walk and get on base. A 3rd round pick in 2017 out of Florida St. U, Walls has moved up the minor league ladder each season holding down the shortstop position at each stop. Could be a nice player for the Twins.
  3. It seems Thorpe's velo is down (bad) and Burroughs actually had a good start for the Saints (good). Just sayin'.
  4. I really don't like that an injured + surgery + long rehab player can be plucked from a team via Rule 5 then stashed on the new team's 60-day and carried for the season and be retained.
  5. << "If I'm the Twins, I place Severino on the 40-man and hope I can re-sign Palacios." >> Yep.
  6. Lefty was one of my favorite pitchers to watch. What a slider. Looked like a fastball, had a little hump to it, then went from Minneapolis to Mankato on a rail. Good luck.
  7. Of course we all go to see the Twins win, but does it benefit the team for the future to put the best probable winning team out there just to win today? It's important to see who might be a contributor to a possible championship team next year and following.
  8. I've always thought the Twins were good to their farm teams in providing a watchable product and Rochester was a good AAA partner.
  9. Or the opposite. Fans will go to see the new young players because wins at this point don't really mean much in the standings (is finishing ahead of Detroit and Kansas City meaningful?). Regardless of what the metrics say, Simmons is not providing game saving defense or adding much to the offense. Like Dman mentioned, maybe a Palacios audition could provide value.
  10. Is Miranda kind of like a young Albert Pujols with the combo of plate coverage and the ball jumping off the bat?
  11. It's always hard to know all the details behind transactions, but bringing up a veteran mid-season free agent can be a message to future possible signees that you can make it back to the majors with the Twins.
  12. Two jacks against jax. Thats the facts. But Griffin had 'em wiffin'. Proving he's no stiffin.
  13. 15th round out of Concordia? Heck yes. Would love to see him succeed in a Twins uniform. Go Bears.
  14. Thanks. If you play any tabletop baseball games like Strat, APBA etc. try it out. I did some design work for Time Travel Baseball Game at Table Top Sports and they implemented it into the rules for the "Future" game. I still roll the dice some and always use it. I like it. It's really nice for that 2nd inning rally, 2 outs, and the pitcher is up. Or save it till later and you can bring your closer in to get the last out in the 8th and use the Free Hitter for him next inning if he's up.
  15. Maybe. I created the "Free Hitter" concept that allows a team once per game to pinch hit from the bench for anyone in the lineup with out the player being pinch hit for being removed from the lineup, and the player announced as the "Free Hitter" and bats as the Free Hitter returns to the bench where he can be used again in whatever capacity. So if you had a guy who is basically a bat only guy he can be a Free Hitter and a Pinch Hitter in the same game, getting 2 AB's. No more DH rule. That would be 324 possible plate appearances in a 162 game schedule. How many DH's get more than that per year? So pitchers still bat, you haven't removed the need for a bat guy on the bench and you get even more managerial choices.
  16. The DH sucks.
  17. The thing about shifts is no matter where you place your fielders there is the same amount of real estate out there for a hitter to get a base hit. And if the defense is bunching up the fielders it actually leaves more room to get a hit. Willie Keeler used to say "Hit it where they ain't". Hitters today don't want to do that, they want to groove their swing and play home run derby.
  18. Most people are married to their phones now. Real life is just something that happens between likes.
  19. Burroughs definitely threw a meatball that Stephenson crushed. It will be interesting to see how the bullpen shapes up next year. I sure miss having reliable arms for late inning relief.
  20. Try a little pitcher Put him in your bullpen You can always let him go.
