  1. Escobar just isn't getting his patented doubles like he did the first two weeks and the last two years. His hard-hit percentage is down a bit at 24% this year from 29% the last two years, but his line drive percentage is way up this year at 25%. I think he's just had a bit of bad luck in that he's just not hitting the gaps.
  2. Finding Dory kept me from hearing the last two innings. Thank you Pixar.
  3. Personally, it probably would have been a curtesy to let him know after the season ended that he wasn't going to be part of their blueprint in 2016. However in fairness to the team, it has become quite obvious that there aren't any blueprints for 2016 now, let alone last October.
  4. Putting the kids to bed always causes me to miss early parts of the game, but we had a rain delay and I thought I'd finally get to watch the part where the Twins were still in it! I only missed the top of the first?! I'm guessing it's only worth rewinding if I enjoy watching Pat Dean cry and Molitor turn purple?
  5. So every other 1st world country is just lucky? Besides by the "don't make a law that can easily be broken" theory, why should illegal immigrants be illegal if they can get in anyway. Just open up the borders.
  6. To be fair to the team, Grossman has always had near elite on-base skills at all levels and this team absolutely needs more O even if it comes at the expense of the S. My frustration comes from the roster construction and management, because this club should absolutely have room for both of those players. They're the worst team in the league, how is it possible to have run out of room for controllable, inexpensive young players?
  7. Pretty disappointing, for all his warts, I think his cock-sure attitude is something this club needs actually. Arcia is the kind of youthful player with potential that if another team DFA'd him, we'd all be clamoring for the Twins to pick him up. Ryan better think long and hard about his roster moves coming up, because if Buxton, Park or Kepler get optioned any time the rest of the year, he's going to have a lot of explaining to do. Good luck to Arcia, I hope he goes somewhere that platoons him correctly and he goes on a tear. Perhaps that will spur changes for the Twins. Also, I'd guess this means that Ryan isn't currently shopping Plouffe, Dozier or Nunez. Also disappointing.
  8. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-recent-disasters-of-buying-low-on-an-aging-star/ Basically it says even when the selling team takes on a ton of salary, these deals never work out for the buyer. Damn it Fangraphs, how about you just shut your damn mouth until after the trade deadline?
  9. No, I do not believe any person has an obligation to have a surgery for their employer regardless of what they are paid or how it may effect the company.
  10. It's hard to believe there are 12 fantastic relief pitchers in baseball?
  11. Is there a problem with him waiting until now, hoping surgery wasn't needed? He's a human being, not a video game character. I'd guess every one of us would try the rest and rehab approach if a doctor suggested there was a chance that we wouldn't need to be knocked out, cut open and incapacitated for months.
  12. They could play RF for the Twins surely.
  13. Hopefully he comes back stronger and ready to go. I'm not a service time expert, but it looks to me like Perkins is going to have 10 and 5 rights next year, so the window to trade him may have passed.
  14. Than there's room for compromise. I'd guess those that want a complete ban would come to the table for automatic/assault rifle bans. How about those that want no firearm restrictions at all?
  15. Yeah, agree. I don't care about Trump's motives if the end result is basically a stick in the eye to the NRA. Besides, it's not going to be anti-gun folks who end up changing this tide, it will be pro-gun people who have finally had enough of this faux 2nd Amendment BS.
  16. I'd say people have jumped on Mauer going on five years now. Ted Williams was great, but perhaps he wouldn't have been nearly as great had the other teams had detailed scouting reports and player specific shifts back then. I like pull hitters, but the other teams have been attacking him different and it hasn't been working for nearly a year now.
  17. Yes, I am now of the mind of "trade Dozier faster". I'm happy he's improved, but I'm ready for Polanco and Dozier is just to streaky, I'm not even close to sold on his improvements. Does this team really want to go into 2016 not knowing what they have in Polanco AND having to keep him on the 25-man? Do we really want to do that again?
  18. When the Twins signed him I made an off hand comparison to J.D Martinez. Who knows, maybe it's just the Astros who are screwing up their prospects. If it's a possibility, this team can go right ahead and kick the tires on Jake Marisnick, Jon Singleton and Preston Tucker after Houston gives up on them too.
  19. Two words: Joe Smith. Keep it on the QT though, that's just between us.
  20. Just to clarify, the link on the OP is to the Strib who did an article about the Sporting News rankings. The Strib included this link to the Sporting News article: http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/list/baseball-gm-rankings-front-office-2016-best-worst-cubs-epstein-yankees-cashman-angels/oxjvydv7a1zs1tmadzrlq2l9t/slide/3
  21. The bunt in the 1st is just barely more of an eye-roll than Delmon Young batting cleanup in a playoff game.
  22. I am curious too. I would think it would be difficult considering how many HS kids they took early. Knowing what Rortvedt got would be a good indicator if they are going to have to go over slot for all the early HS kids.
  23. I almost posted my interest in him when he was DFA'd. He was in the running to be the Cubs closer two years ago; he has some potential. Jepsen should be cut loose to make room, Besides, a red-bearded guy named Rameriz? How could you not want that?
  24. If he turns it around, why would there be a new GM?
