  1. The ball was hit into the outfield, and an outfielder threw the ball to another player who was standing on/near a base. Just an assumption though, I too am not able to watch.
  2. Interesting, two of the breweries by me always have the owners' dogs there too. Is that a brewery thing? I've never been up on the new trends.
  3. Agreed. Sorry to say, but the civilians who WANT to be armed, are probably the people I TRUST to be armed least I remember when people were talking about arming teachers and I was thinking back to my days in school. The one teacher who I knew would carry a gun to school would be the crazy sociology teacher who kept getting in trouble for getting physical with kids, bragged (lied) about being a former spy and got the cops called on him for screaming at the paper boy at 6 AM because he was late. Sorry, way too many of these guys would be/are walking around with fire arms, and they are just looking to "play hero".
  4. Good luck Phil. I don't find this good news simply because I don't wish an extensive surgery and rehabilitation on anyone.
  5. Out-pitch whom? The rotation is awful. May didn't deserve his demotion last year, it happened because he was young and the rotation was full. He has better stuff than everyone in the current rotation, why make him prove himself in Rochester when he showed in 2015 that he was just fine as a starter?
  6. ******Moderator Note************ The discussion is somewhat relevant to the topic at hand, but some of the posts are bordering on personal. Let's keep it objective.
  7. May's numbers as a starter in 2015 were better than every pitcher who has started for the Twins in 2016. Seriously, his ERA and WHIP were better than everyone who has toed the mound for the opening pitch this year and his K/9 was better than everyone but (SSS) Berrios and Meyer in 2016. And he was improving before the demotion.
  8. They only moved him to the pen because the rotation had a space crunch and every statement from the manager and GM after the move seemed to imply that he may still be considered for a starting gig at some later date. Well there's no rotation roster crunch now.
  9. His old self never got swings and misses, I like the new Gibson better!
  10. Fact: Calvin Griffith will trade away all our good players. Fact Calvin Griffith will never sell this team. Even if you're 100% comfortable with something, that doesn't make it fact, simply a belief.
  11. Neither of those are facts. History does not guarantee future.
  12. And if Anthony doesn't fail? If the team played better no one would give him credit and we'd all demand he be fired anyway. But of course he wouldn't.
  13. Ouch. But in all seriousness, the longer this club goes into the season without making a change, I think the better the chance this team goes outside the organization to find people this off season. Seriously, if Ryan and Molitor were fired right now, Anthony and Glynn would most assuredly take over. How would everyone feel if the team some how played .500 ball the rest of the way ensuring they get their interim labels removed come November?
  14. I would bet an expansion draft today would be quite different than the past drafts. Teams are now statistically inclined and they just have a better idea how these things play out now. I would think a savvy expansion team would almost solely focus on drafting high upside prospects who aren't protected due to them still being a few years away. The new clubs know they are going to stink coming out of the gates, but they also have a payroll of zero and can build most of a 25-man through free agency.
  15. 90 pitches and 5 innings is one hell of an outing for this rotation anyway.
  16. I don't care about the price of chopped meat. Clear 25-man space, give young guys a look, and give the next GM the flexibility to sign free agents best for the new system.
  17. $8? Still cheaper than the borough on the other side of the Harlem River.
  18. Ok, just getting caught up as the kids just went to bed. So if I'm following today correctly: Arcia got traded for a used nutcup, the good Dozier is back, the Twins still can't get 60-year-old A-Rod out, Milone is still bad but only because he doesn't get the same calls Tanaka gets and Mauer is overpaid?
  19. Hey, screw the future if it allows me to vent and make a fuss now.
  20. Sometimes Dozier appears to be the clear clubhouse leader. Other times he sounds like a stubborn teenager. I mean, I understand the desire to have some veterans even if I personally want very few of them, but just because a guy is nearing 30 doesn't necessarily make him a good role model or mature. Even if rolling your eyes at a coach's instruction is innocuous or taken out of context in this situation, stubbornly sticking with your personal approach when superiors would prefer you try to alter it probably isn't presenting the best message for the younger guys. Do we want Buxton or Sano to get the idea they can do things their way?
  21. With all due apologies to Britain, I will be disheartened but relieved if they get a taste of political violence, riots, economic ruin and all kinds of anarchy in short order. Let Americans see what Trump is actually supporting before November comes around.
  22. I agree, and that's the approach I'd take with any trade at this point. My only point is, getting some of these guys off of the 25-man is worth more than what ever they'd get back in return, which likely is going to be less than most of us like even under the most ideal scenario.
  23. My approach: screw the return. Getting Polanco and Sano up to speed by 2017 is worth more than trying to leverage a B prospect instead of a C prospect. Package the infielders with any or all arms, and if trying to get a shiney new toy is so damn important to this club, eat some salary. With all the youth, this team isn't going to have any payroll issues for a half decade at least.
