  1. Surely there will be more. But the Rockies are one of those teams that make three head scratching moves for every one non-awful move.
  2. Or they were just using hindsight to find a silver lining. Which actually seems like one of the few cases where using hindsight is at least modestly admirable.
  3. I don't think the Twins have any of those kinds of left handed hitters.
  4. You could either ask 13 batters to swallow their pride and do it. Or one manager. It would probably go over better if the choice was not left up to the batters themselves.
  5. It does, but getting on base might not even be the biggest benefit of bunting against a shift. The larger prize may be to get teams to stop shifting.
  6. Some team will do it. The game is all about taking advantage of your environment now. With all of their lefties, it'd be great if it was the Twins who started this movement.
  7. I think the defenders will be able to adjust in time. My original assumption was that this was going to crush running backs. Running backs tend to make themselves small upon contact to better absorb the hit, this tends to bring the head down into a somewhat erect fetal position. However they don't tend drop right to the ground, they're taught to fall forward and keep their feet moving. If they're moving forward I don't know how the officials can't say they aren't initiating contact. AP would have been flagged every game assuming a half back dive right into the middle of the defensive line was somewhere in the game plan.
  8. All of them, and at the same time surely. Gordon at AA makes sense with Polanco out and Aybar in the wind. There's very little depth at SS and Gordon isn't next in line to get the job. The more veteran Petit is almost certainly the next call up so he's the guy that makes sense for Rochester. From a roster perspective anyway.
  9. That's pretty harsh and calling them clowns seems to border on wrong side of the comment policy stipulation regarding personal attacks. I think this post would have been just as valid without the unnecessary barb and certainly less inviting of a rebuttal personal attack.
  10. I might suspect he's trying overly hard to set the tone for his young club?
  11. Span never stepped toward the pitch, it's why he never generated any power. I always disagreed with that aspect of his game, his swing made him look a lot smaller than he was. The guy is 6' 210 lbs, we've seen much smaller frames do more driving the ball.
  12. Is anyone going to score today? ...That was an honest question, it's been a long off season, I'm forgetting how all of this works.
  13. Your clock on the wall is two hours off.
  14. Four of his career 24 HR came off of the Twins, that's tied for tops. He also OPS'd .745 against the Twins, that's his 2nd best. He OPS'd .769 against Baltimore though, he must really hate them.
  15. How does that not directly correlate to Dwight Evans himself getting into the HOF? Sheesh, BBWA I tell ya.
  16. I think Dozier is going to have to have a career year to get a big deal next year. Asdrubal Cabrera, Logan Forsythe, Marwin Gonzalez, Josh Harrison, Ian Kinsler, DJ LeMahieu, Jed Lowrie, Daniel Murphy and Neil Walker will all be looking for jobs and all it's going to take is for about two of them to be desperate enough to take a cheap 1 year deal to collapse any kind of market for Dozier. And that's not counting the SS types like Elvis Andrus and the Twins' own Eduardo Escobar. These guys don't have to be better than Dozier, they just have to be better value. Personally, I'd like to see if Dozier can play LF. I see more room for him on this team going forward if he can man that spot.
  17. RB - The Jake Odorizzi of Twins Daily. Man, I hope Odorizzi's performance is not reflective of Brian's today. Kidding, well done!
  18. If Hughes comes back and is ready to pitch ASAP after his 10-day DL stint, I'm going to be a bit suspicious. I've never known a pitcher to recover from an oblique injury that quickly. Those tend to be the injuries that always seem to be quite innocuous but then end up costing a guy a quarter of a season. I mean if the Twins front office is being "innovative" by shelving their #5 guy because they don't need him and clearing a 25-man spot in the meantime, that's fine by me! I'd think other teams might call foul on that though. Or else it will become the new norm and MLB will have to cover its eyes and pretend it's not happening.
  19. Yeah, weird. I'm not crying over it but it seemed like the kind of shtick that would last until Bert was done or made headlines for the wrong reasons. They do realize "The Winners Circle" isn't a relevant baseball term don't they? Was this a reused promotion from Canterbury Downs or something?
  20. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/03/27/nfl-passes-rule-against-lowering-head-to-initiate-contact-with-helmet/ So this new rule sounds like the NFL is going to become even more pass-happy? No one anywhere on the field can lower their head to initiate contact. The first teams that realize that this going to draw flag after flag after flag from the running backs and change their offenses accordingly are going to thrive.
  21. I'd suspect all of your wives are pregnant, scared and confused.
  22. We will happily accept any castoff posters here assuming they find the more conversational nature of our threads here at TD appealing. Maybe we'll beat this internet thing yet when TD is the web's last message board still standing because of respect and civility of all things!
  23. Adrianza is still a poor hitter. He really only got at bats last year due to injury. In Adrianza's favor is that he plays a position that historically has accepted backups with poor bats if they have a good glove.
