  1. Geez, Chief's finding fault in our best player now!
  2. If I put both of Morrison and Lynn's pillows together I'd need a chiropractor appointment in the morning.
  3. You should probably go get seconds.
  4. I'd bet the reason for that is that Mike Scioscia has as much or more influence than the GM. Just a guess, but judging by how Molitor uses young pitchers, I'd bet he'd prefer to not have any on the 25-man that didn't "earn" a spot.
  5. Don't jinx it. The worst pitcher in the Angels pen is still probably the Twins 4th best.
  6. It would appear so. Unless we are to believe the Twins had intended to actually make three Rule 5 selections.
  7. But I believe they had 4 open spots at the time of the Rule 5 draft. So it seems to me drafting Kinley really had little to do with the other guys getting booted. Bard, Burdi and later Chargois were gone for other reasons, likely because the team planned on going big on quantity in the free agent market (speaking nothing of quality). Kinley was a mistake, here's hoping they're just waiting a couple days to give him the bad news so they can get a groupon discount on bus tickets for him, Hughes, Duke and Morrison.
  8. Right but LA and NY shed payroll last season, almost certainly for the specific purpose of chasing Harper and Machado. He's probably going to easily clear Stanton's 300M+ contract.
  9. Excellent! Plenty of time to change that line-drive swing. C'mon kid, get with the modern times!
  10. I agree, but they're short about ten firefighters. I don't understand why the focus is on one guy.
  11. I don't care what they do with Kinley, I'm only suggesting that the hand wringing over him seems way too focused. I wouldn't worry about putting out the camp fire when the entire forest is in flames.
  12. I suppose it's just impractical to carry only three pitchers.
  13. I understand the consternation regarding Kinley, but at least there's a justification for keeping him (even if fans don't care for it); they lose him if they remove him from the 25 man. What is the reason Hildenberger is still up? Ugh, and Rogers and Duke are on this team only because the other option is Moya. The lefty situation is a disaster, I don't think there's much reason not to see what Jay has, screw his lack of innings, he can't be worse. If not Jay, then I think it's time for Mejia or Gonsalves to get called up to the MLB pen.
  14. Well I'd settle for half of the bench at +.740. And to keep up with Houston and Boston, yeah, they probably should be aiming for that minimal level of competency from the bench bats.
  15. Top end starting pitching is always a unique beast, but the Twins have plenty of assets if they wanted a righ-handed OF bat or a reliever. And if they're willing to take on salary, they might not even have to give up much in the way of assets. Baltimore surely would at least listen if the Twins started talking about taking on some or all of Adam Jones' or Darren O'Day's salary. * *Two players used for the purpose of examples only.
  16. I'd like to think the front office won't wait until a more traditional date in July to start calling Miami, Cincinnati, Baltimore, KC and the Southsiders about a right handed bench/OF bat and high strikeout BP arms. There's no rule that says you can't make a trade in April. And there's no rule that says you can't overpay now for something seeing as it will pay dividends prior to August 1st.
  17. I'm bored with Cleveland being the butt of league jokes. I'm ready for it to be the Packers turn.
  18. According to Fangraphs maybe. Brooksbaseball has his April Velocity and pitch usage the same as last year. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/velo.php?player=519151&b_hand=-1&gFilt=&pFilt=FA|SI|FC|CU|SL|CS|KN|CH|FS|SB&time=month&startDate=03/30/2007&endDate=04/20/2018&s_type=2 http://www.brooksbaseball.net/outcome.php?player=519151&b_hand=-1&gFilt=&pFilt=FA|SI|FC|CU|SL|CS|KN|CH|FS|SB&time=month&startDate=03/30/2007&endDate=04/20/2018&s_type=2
  19. I don't have faith in Hughes, but with his successful rehab outings he probably deserves another shot. But giving him that shot against the Yankees in Yankee stadium looks an awful like setting him up to get shelled under the guise of having the honor of facing his old team.
  20. The question was about Berrios being a #1 for the Twins, not whether he'd regress from his video game numbers he's currently putting up. It seemed like he was using an undebatable point with minimal relevance to support and promote a preconceived idea and still fail to answer the actual question.
  21. How about just two LaMarres?
  22. I think discussing politics within the realm of the Greenback Party is still fair game.
  23. Don't let Kurt Suzuki hear you laugh, he's suddenly feeling a bit optimistic about his chances of getting in.
  24. Yeah, this front office hasn't shown much desire to move starters to the pen thus far. Tyler Jay did but it sounded like that was his desire.
  25. Maybe whomever told Kyle Gibson to stop banking his career on the sinker finally got around to convincing Stewart to do likewise? I'd be nice to know if his approach has changed from last year.
