  1. Well Garver is much better against lefties. He only OPS’s .845 against righties.
  2. When Kaat was around? I kind of felt a vibe from Dick that he preferred his old partner, and a vibe from Bert that he was self conscious about being in the booth with a better color guy (and pitcher?).
  3. I see, fair point. Still, I think if you tell everyone “Because the robot overlords dictated no move” then the robot overlords terminate you.
  4. I think lineup construction is a collaborative effort these days.
  5. Yeah Dick Bremer. He thought Rosario already hit a HR.
  6. Well playing three middle infielders probably guarantees zero errors.
  7. Cron kills lefties and “only” has a .718 OPS against righties this year. Meanwhile Adrianza has a righty OPS of .710. So I got nothing, must want to give Cron rest or keep giving Adrianza regular game action.
  8. Wow, can’t believe Gibson threw that pitch, and I can’t believe Kipnis swung.
  9. Last series Laz Diaz seemed to call a strike on a ball, only after Max aggressively jumped out of the box presuming he drew a walk. Seemed to happen again there, ump didn’t react until after Kepler did.
  10. Congrats! Hope you get to make it to a game and hope he gets some innings fairly soon. I'll bet there will be some anxious sleepless nights until he does!
  11. Not a great matchup, but I like how the rotation played out for the Twins, this is probably how I'd draw it up if I got to choose. If we were going to "concede" one matchup, I'd put up our sketchiest arm against their best. Gibson has been the Twins best pitcher lately, I'd trust him to battle Clevinger over the other pitchers. Odorizzi gets the only ordinary arm in their bullpen and Berrios gets to deal against the rookie.
  12. I have plenty of doubts but he’s got a 13% whiff percentage on the new found cutter. That’s pretty good, I just think it’s too much like his other offerings. I’d think if the Twins don’t find the best compliment of pitches for him, his next pitching coach might. But yeah, if the team isn’t going to tinker, I don’t want this version of him.
  13. I think the cutter is working but he doesn’t throw it very hard, only 88mph. It’s barely distinguishable from his change up and two seemer. His three main pitches, sinker, cutter, change, have become virtually identical in their vertical movement the last three months and there’s not much velocity difference: I’d like to move him to the pen, have him increase the four seamer or curve usage and drop the change or two seamer.
  14. The Twins made Morris the 2nd highest paid pitcher at the time and had to lure him back home with an opt out clause, which by the way was extremely forward thinking, it had never been done before. We’re they cheap in not outbidding the Blue Jays for him the following year? I suppose if you don’t consider that they re-signed Kirby Puckett to the largest free agent deal in league history.
  15. Well I’m not the fan of Jax that some are, but I’d be more than happy to see Graterol, Duran and other high energy arms.
  16. I think I'd try Perez in the pen once more prior to a DFA, and I'd have him drop his changeup and maybe see if he can break out the curveball a bit more. His cutter was his newly found magic pitch early in the year, but it looks like he's only throwing it 88MPH, which is only 3 MPH faster than the changeup, and unlike the first March-May it looks like both pitches have near identical vertical movement now.
  17. Trades for injured relievers not-withstanding, the pitching staff has been unreasonably healthy the last two years. I don't know if it's due to excellent training and conditioning, improved technique and mechanics, luck or magic elixirs, but if we're worried about the health of young arms, Minnesota might be the best place for them.
  18. I don't like the 3 MPH drop in his velocity at all. I'd rather do Brad Brach.
  19. Tried Summit’s Ratskeller Smoked Porter tonight. It tastes like grilled bacon that fell onto the charcoal then got marinated in bath water. There’s no way the poor score tonight and the poor beer I drank are a coincidence.
  20. Most teams would love to have Schoop on the bench. Twins probably included.
  21. Was that a change this year? Because it's always been a free for all prior to the All-Star break and then it went by league after.
  22. The Reds should have really good starting and relief pitching depth this offseason but will probably be looking to beef up the lineup, middle infield in particular.
  23. Based on NL records, it looks like only four teams passed on him, two of which, Pittsburgh and Miami, wouldn't spend a dime unless forced to. I'd guess San Diego would have been interested if they weren't already struggling to find innings for seven starters under the age of 27. Colorado? Yeah, they're always in need of pitching, they should have had some interest, though they're probably up against their budget considering they are a non-contender and have some big contracts on the books. Maybe they don't care for his repertoire though. He's not a strong groundball pitcher and he gave up the slider this year.
  24. Yeah, every batter who played for the Twins last year has reduced his strikeouts this season. Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference, but Sano may have benefited from spring training when whatever change struck the organization occurred.
