  1. Yeah, the Giants look like they're going to give it a shot. Not sure if that's the smart move, but no one's getting fired for that being only 2 games back, which isn't typically a 'seller' team. Giving it one more go before losing franchise icons Bumgarner and Bochy seems like the right thing to do for the fans. I don't have my finger on the pulse out in that area, but I'd think after their run to get back into contention, there might be quite a bit of nostalgia floating around the west side of the bay right now.
  2. Which soon-to-be free agent did you have in mind? Zack Wheeler seems like the only major player I can think of and rumors of an extension for him have been floated for a couple weeks, and if no extension, then a qualifying offer most likely. Otherwise, Syndergaard, Ray, Minor, Boyd and all the top end relievers are all under contract through at least next year, most longer. Their teams can try again to compete next year, or they can try again to trade them in the offseason when there would likely be more bidders. I don't see many selling teams still holding on to expiring lotto tickets.
  3. So Miami got a highly rated SS from AZ, but you assume position doesn't matter to them? They'd have been just as happy with a corner outfielder?
  4. Stashak has been averaging nearly 2 innings per outing in Rochester, but I think Thorpe would stay due to his left handedness. But if I were the Twins, I'd make sure to get Thorpe as many innings this year as possible either in Minnesota or Rochester, because at this point, he's probably internal option number 1 to fill out a rotation spot from day one in 2020 should they need an internal option to step in.
  5. Bauer from the Reds? Does the Reds GM want to be blacklisted from trades for the rest of his career? AZ gave up a top 60 SS prospect for Gallen, the Twins only have one of those, giving up Royce Lewis because of one game Gallen pitched against the Twins is how we get Hicks/Murphy swaps.
  6. Ooh, I got one: has anyone ever come in to the game in the 9th with one out and a three run lead and nobody on, had a passed ball third strike with the runner reaching and then proceeded to get the save?
  7. Maybe because if he does, he knows he gets to go to Houston and join the WS favorites?
  8. I think Verlander and Greinke are about 47-years-old; he’ll be back before you know it.
  9. Stray thought that now popped into my mind. It was repeatedly reported that the Tigers were asking the Nationals for Carter Kieboom for Shane Greene. The Nationals then signed Hudson, Elias and uh, someone else? Nearly immediately after the Nationals were done with their signings, the Tigers gave him to the Braves for two very marginal prospects? Man, the talent evaluation across the league must crazy diverse, and just when I thought the teams were all starting to become carbon copies of each other.
  10. Not a big Dyson fan, but the only other relievers that went today that I had any interest in were Hudson and Elias so I'm not going to sweat which of the plan C options the team got. I really hope they get him to emphasize the cutter usage over the two seamer though.
  11. I care more about the strikeouts, particularly when Sano is fielding grounders over my right shoulder.
  12. Hmmm, that was Tweeted one minute before the Diplan trade?
  13. We need an update from that teenage girl with the Twitter account.
  14. If I was going to b a pessimist, I'd say they wanted this guy, but not until they knew they weren't going to fill the three remaining 40-man spots today. Still got two open spots though. Minor and Leclerc.
  15. So Marcos Diplan is a different human being than Mauricio Dubon who the Brewers traded earlier today. It took me a couple of minutes to figure all of this out.
  16. That's been my outlook on the Twins and sports in general for quite awhile. Plenty of other things to get angry about, and even those things, it's usually better to not to. I got kids, I don't want them learning that angry stuff from me. Besides, I'd rather watch a baseball game the Twins lose than watch the Bachelor.
  17. He was a top 60 prospect and I'm guessing Miami isn't looking at his batting average. If Miami wanted a top 100 prospect SS in AA, the only thing the Twins could have offered was Royce Lewis.
  18. A prospect for prospect move between AZ and Miami. Rare, but I like it!
  19. I don't know, I looked at this guys numbers and he's never done much outside of the PCL. If he's the Brewers #3 prospect, that doesn't look terribly promising for their farm.
  20. I don't know, Pomeranz looked like he was heading toward DFA territory and the Giants got a MLB ready 2B in the process.
  21. They were both on my list of non-top tier hopefuls.
  22. I don't know anything about Twitter, but isn't 3K+ followers high for someone with only 7 Tweets? Also, now she says Zach Wheeler is the fall back option if they don't get Minor.
