    The problem is that the 'eh' hitters have been the low end vets. I want to see the young bats, like ALL the young bats get a shot. But there won't be room, so if they can do another Arraez/Lopez deal, but with Julien, or one of the other young hitters, I'm all for it. Which ever player they pick, should have more value than Arraez did, so that should be an excellent return. And while I like the defensive flexibility, I don't want them to rotate Lewis/Lee/Julien. If they're all on the team, I want them in the lineup every day. 2023 starting lineup for me: C: Jeffers, 1B Kirilloff, 2B Lee, SS Correa, 3B Lewis, CF Buxton, RF/LF/DH, Wallner, Martin, Larnach, Julien, Prato, Williams, Severino, Big Budget Free Agent. I get that some of those are unproven, but there's a ton to audition and the team can afford to have one spot in the lineup open for auditions. There's also just more guys than there are spots. Level up with your best trade chips to improve the pitching staff. I wouldn't single out Julien, he's one of my favorite players, but if he's the best chip, I'm very open to it.

    If there aren't three guys, who are already on the 40-man, whom they expect to come back within the week, this makes no sense. If they do plan on bringing back say Buxton, Krilloff and Paddock, then I guess chopping Stevenson in a few days adds up. But what doesn't add up is why they don't call up the righthanded AAA talent like Martin, Prato or Williams, and then chop Floro, Moran, Henriquez or Celestino later. All of those guys are expendable from my point of view. No point in carrying them when they won't/shouldn't be carried once the season is over.

    I can't speak for Mike, but I assume the thought is that Correa will stick at SS, Buxton or Martin will be in CF and Lewis and Lee will be 2B/3B.

    If it was me, and it isn't, I like the DH spot to be flexible. Or it could be your spot to find that year's Nelson Cruz or JD Martinez; the huge veteran bat which is clearly an upgrade to the more recent wave veteran bats this team likes to stick into valuable spots in the field. I'd think if you could get high end pitching for Julien (or for Julien +), it would be more valuable than just plugging him in at DH. But again, I really like Julien, so I wouldn't trade him just to trade him. Only if there's another stalwart starter to be had.

    I really, really like Julien, and I don't know that I'd trade him just because, but if Buxton goes back to CF, it's going to be hard to find room for Lewis, Lee and Julien. If his value is still really high, he'd make sense to move for a high end return. More starting pitching is and will always be my vote.

    Only Travis Kelce had 100 catches and 1000 yards as a TE last year. Mark Andrews, who was the best TE in the league the year before did it, but that was his only season doing so. Kittle hasn't had 1000 yards in four years and never 100 catches. I think your TE expectations are a bit high. Hockenson was arguably the second best TE in the league last year and he's younger than Kelce, Andrews, Kittle, Waller and Goedert, so he would be more valuable. Based on age and production, Hockenson or Pitts are really the only two TEs who currently have a logical reason to push the TE salary. And it probably did need to be pushed, even after this deal, the pay is still not on par with most positions. The top TE salaries are still less than edge rushers, linebackers, corners and even guards and safeties.

    Cleveland is 5 games back. New York is ten games back. If 5=10 in your book, there’s probably no point in furthering this discussion.

    I wanted nothing to do with the outfielders. But hard to see why a team would want Jordan Luplow but not Grichuk. If Buxton promptly returns and Martin or another young OF gets called up, it'd be a better move than Grichuk.

    What list? Weren't you advocating for the Yankees to claim players simply out of spite? Spite which you bafflingly advocated as being positive trait? That's not what Cleveland did. They're still trying to win the division.

    Surprising. Cleveland pinches pennies every chance they get. The three moves they made almost look like they were intentionally designed to block the Twins. Not sure they needed both relievers. After yesterday's loss, it seemed possible the loss may have had a silver lining and actually helped the Twins so they'd be higher in the waiver pecking order. But I wonder if Cleveland makes these claims if they hadn't won the game.

    I like this group, but it's going to be tough to top 1982 with Hrbek, Gaetti, Brunanski, Viola, Laudner and Bush. Jim Eisenreich played too but didn't exceed rookie thresholds.

    They signed Hockenson to an extension, no terms released yet. I know this front office loves to procrastinate, probably to be as 'efficient' as they can with money, but PLEASE sign Jefferson to an extension this year. Waiting only opens the door for him to want out for some reason or another. What if the team unexpectedly stinks this year? What if Cousins walks and they don't have a legit QB for him next year? Do it now; don't gamble with the best player in the league.

    I agree with much of this, but maybe not the AFC East part. I think the trainwreck nature of the Raiders and continued belief that Josh McDaniels can be a head coach is most likely going to have them picking top five next year. I also think Sean Peyton's trash talking of Hackett was his way of pre-emptively saying that his team is going to suck, but it's not HIS fault. My hot take will be that Baker Mayfield will be average, and that's going to be enough to make that team surprisingly good. That team should have been pretty good last year; I think the Brady drama impacted them more than they're letting on.

    Uh me? If the Twins are out of the playoff hunt, I'd rather them audition the young guys and angle for draft position. Fans are way more petty about rivalries than the teams are. Some fans apparently, not most fans.

    I really don't think Cashman currently has the job security to throw the owner's money down the toilet purely out of spite.

    If anything, the teams out of contention want teams above them in the standings to improve just to hang on to the better draft position.

    The Twins and Reds need to collude on this. Surely neither team feels comfortable claiming everyone as there's salary concerns and even bigger roster concerns. But they aren't competing with each other for playoff spots, so they should easily be able to collaborate to find out what the other team wants. The Twins getting players would block the NL teams the Reds are chasing from getting them, and the Reds getting players would block AL teams from getting players. The rest of the league would be upset, which is just fine with me.

    Well he's available now. I'd be interested in him over Hall. But I'd rather be interested in him AND Hall and let Mullins find a new home.

    Vikings signed Myles Gaskin. Would have much rather gone with a young unproven RB with some upside like Malik Davis or Deneric Prince.

    Yeah, I don't want them, I want the pitchers. But this front office and their love of veteran hitters...... that's probably where their mind is. I'd rather see the options in St. Paul. All of these guys are making good money this year aside from Lopez though; it'd still be about 3M apiece for the other four players. If ownership told them they couldn't blow any more money at the deadline, they might tell them the same here. But, the team is in a much more fan-enthusiastic spot than they were a month ago, so maybe things have changed.
