  1. Got to catch that ball. whoever the hell that guy was.
  2. I still want to live in the penthouse.
  3. Dont even try for a 15 yard completion?!?! They had two shots at it!
  4. And who will call his own plays and ignore the coaches if they can’t get a play in.
  5. Wow. That’s what I want. A Kirk Cousins who can run for a 1st down..
  6. Akers to lead RB, Mattison to WR 3. Find a silver lining to this situation. Mattison just can’t run the ball anymore.
  7. Wow. Who had this meaningless game pegged as so utterly devastating? Hope KJ is OK.
  8. Still have to throw. You’ll go 3 and out running it all game long. They can either cowardly try to lose by less than ten points, or they can at least try to score and risk losing by 30. It’s almost certainly a loss either way, but don’t concede now just to save face.
  9. Why are the blitzing less than normal? I don’t think they’ve blitzed on 3rd down yet.
  10. They’re going to stuff the box all game long. They won’t be able to run it with Barry Sanders in his prime.
  11. As scary as throwing sounds, they simply cannot and should not run the ball.
  12. He was on track to be a literal rocket scientist, so may a new NFL playbook is easy for him to digest.
  13. Just can’t hand it off to Mattison.
  14. Hmmmm, reconsidering initial criticism.
  15. You can tell this is going to be a long game based on the first play. Defense knows you’re starting an untested rookie QB and will assume it would be a cowardly run up the middle. If you actually TRUST the rookie QB, you throw a pass over the middle to the TE if only to make the defense question their game plan.
  16. I don’t want Dobbs or Hall either (obviously barring a fabulous dream ascension), as good as Cousins has been, I’ve been asking for an even higher, elite caliber QB the whole time he’s been here. I just have a feeling we’re going to see a Case Keemun situation, and there were plenty of fans who thought the Vikings should stick to that path instead of signing Cousins. That year was a great case study though because this draft is gearing up to look similar. Lamar Jackson was a presumptive top pick at the beginning of the college season, than Mayfield, Darnold, Rosen and Allen grabbed the attention making Jackson old news pushing him to the bottom of the first round; the Vikings could have had him. There looks to be a lot of QBs in this draft that look NFL-promising.
  17. Still, there's a difference between spending 40% less than what you bring in and spending 70% less than what you bring in. That stratification creates a competitive disadvantage. And honestly, spending 10% less than what you bring in is a reasonable if not generous model in many industries, pro sports owners have just collectively decided that they want more. Much more.
  18. But I don't care about the payroll, the bottom line is they cannot take a step back in terms of quality of the rotation next year. Whether it's via free agency or trade, they have to get someone who slots in ABOVE Ryan/Ober/Paddock, not someone who slots in with with them.
  19. In just about every business except for professional sports. It's pretty much just the initial investment and then they can nickel and dime the operation to their hearts content; see the Pittsburg Pirates. Buying a pro sports team is basically just an ATM for these billionaires. But, the Pohlad's haven't been doing that recently, and I don't see them reducing their current investments. We don't have the world's greatest pro sports ownership group, but we're better off than most of our peer markets and I'm fine with the bird-in-the-hand we have.
  20. No chance he accepts, because even the Twins would surely be willing to extend him an offer that would top the QO, so even if he was dead set on playing here, he'd play here under better terms. As for playing for a winner, he seems like the perfect replacement for Charlie Morton in Atlanta; I'll bet he's near the top of their list of wants, and it's hard to top the 'winning' situation there. And while St. Louis was a loser last year, they normally aren't and are probably only a couple of starters away from being a contender. Both cities are closer to his hometown as well, should he be concerned with that sort of thing. Twins likely are front runners to retain him, but not with the QO.
  21. Strange aura that's floated over me today, but have a feeling that either Hall or Dobbs is going to play well enough to make some fans (some, not all or most) have second thoughts about what direction to go with QB this off season. Neither will be top notch QBs, but I'm betting which ever one they settle on will play well enough to start the conversation. And really, for all his warts, had Dobbs been throwing to Jefferson, Addison and Hockenson in AZ, they'd probably be playing .500 football and he'd still be their starter.
  22. I too am a reader not a watcher, and based on the TD model here, I'm guessing most of our followers are, but plenty of room for all forms of Twins related media on the site. Lots of effort put into making a video.
  23. You're understating the quality of the Twins defense, and really underselling it if you're concerned about the players they're developing. Correa's at short forcing Lewis to 3B. Lee and Martin are knocking on the door and cut their teeth playing short but will be bringing their qualify defense to other spots on the diamond. There is no reason for concern about the Twins current or long-term defense, it is and will be fine. The offense, as always, is more important and most pressing.
  24. Jimenez is 3.5 years younger and has strung together two good seasons of effective relief work compared to Pagan's one season. I could see Pagan getting a two year deal, but I'd be surprised if he gets three. Atlanta does have a history of getting their current players to take below market deals, but Pagan shouldn't be able to match that deal. I really couldn't say if Pagan has actually figured things out, or of the law of small sample sizes just finally swung in his favor for a few months. In any case, I don't have strong feelings one way or the other about re-signing him.
  25. Turning your starters with injury history or too few quality pitches into relievers isn't some secret trick relevant to Bill Smith and Terry Ryan. Everyone does it, probably since the game was invented. Here in Minnesota, we've seen the payoff for such a move repeatedly and frequently.
