  1. Very happy to have 9 inning double header games again.

  2. Before this goes further and hijacks the thread, I'll point you here where this topic is already being discussed.
  3. Another good recap, Nick. It was a pretty busy week too. Hopefully Lewis has a shortish stint on the IL and Gray doesn't need one at all.
  4. I'd actually bring both up, but if I have to choose one it would be Lewis. Lewis can fill the roll Gordon currently holds and then some and Kirilloff would allow Miranda to be sent down. Perhaps an injection of youth could spur the offense a little.
  5. I got stuck behind this guy in line. All I wanted was my avocado & kale grain wrap and almond milk double espresso! That pretentious prick!
  6. Duffey is on a roll. He's allowing an earned run on every other hit, on average. But...he's not allowed an intentional walk. So, there is that. Sidenote: anyone that still rocks stirrups gets some respect from me! Smeltzer pitched a nice game, he deserved better.
  7. I like what I've seen from both in their short careers thus far. I am worried that they'll hit a wall in August, but hopefully that 6 man rotation helps avoid that. Each having IL stints should help as well. They both look like good pieces to a rotation though.
  8. For me, I stopped going to a lot of week day games because I work early. Games are too long. The earlier start in April, May and September helps but not enough to really entice me unless I'm interested in a particular game. The fact that many, myself included, can't watch games is pretty harmful in my view. Out of sight, out of mind. Current inflation and financial concerns are a pretty good reason for families and those on fixed incomes to avoid going to games.
  9. I like that you noted where Martin and Lewis played, Seth. It's interesting to see what they're trying to do defensively with both. Lewis looks like he should stick at SS, but I'm interested to see how they're rotating him around the field to get him back up with the Twins. And it'd be nice to see them settle on a home for Martin, wherever that may be.
  10. And a damn good defensive catcher too.
  11. Tough game to lose. Very, very winnable. And this team should win when the pitching allows only 3 earned runs over 10. The bats need to get going. It's late May now and they're struggling against teams they should clobber.
  12. Today's matchup will feature Mother Nature vs Baseball Human Types.  Stay tuned to find out who wins!

  13. Hard to argue with what Garlick is doing. He's certainly shocked me by it. I don't know if it's sustainable or not, but credit him for taking the most of his opportunities. I'm enjoying the show, however long it lasts!
  14. Nice write-up, Seth! Good to see Martin and Kirilloff mentioned here. Martin may not be hitting for much power, but getting some hits is at least a good sign in his process. Kirilloff starting to come around with the bat is also encouraging. Good to see some pop coming back too. Has there been any new reports on his wrist and how it's responding lately?
  15. The real answer to this quandary is likely that both are true. Yes, he probably could use a 3 or 4 game stretch to get his swing back. But it's also likely true that he's not healthy enough to do it. If it really is patellar tendinitis, that's not going away with a short IL stint or while playing every day. So, they've either got to shut him down for an extended IL stay or play through it and try to manage it as best they can. We know that Buxton wants nothing more than to play, so the resulting scenario is what we're currently seeing.
  16. 4 in a row and now Detroit comes to town!

Shhhhh … be a little more nonchalant about it lest you stir the jinx gods

Well, I first typed out that they were taking the wins train through Detroit until I realized that it was actually a home series, so I showed some restraint.  I'm hoping the humility is taken into account by the Baseball Gods.

  17. Before the season, I said that this team will go as far as the younger players will take them. So far, I think that's proven to be true, particularly in the pitching department. Still a lot of season left, but early returns are looking good. It'll be interesting to see how Chicago pushes this team the rest of the way. And while the bullpen has been better than advertised, it's been a rollercoaster at times too. It would be nice if that could get solidified.
  18. Four in a row, 6 of their last 7. Making hay during this stretch is important. They're getting it done.
  19. And have you noticed that there aren't any vendors going up and down the aisles at TF? What's with that?!? JEEEEEEEZ!!!!!!! This franchise can't do anything right!
  20. Royce Lewis... don't need him!

  21. I get wanting to keep him playing SS every day, but that doesn't mean that I have to like it!
  22. Great first post and welcome to Twins Daily!
  23. Sure, but workouts and simulated games are no substitute for real game action. It's one thing to do something in practice, but often quite another to do it in a game with the adrenaline going.
  24. Did I hear this correctly?  Bremer and Hawkins had to evacuate the broadcast booth because of a possum on the loose?

Oakland really does need a new ballpark...
