  1. This type of game is what I expected to see regularly this season. Not so much the losing part necessarily, but a slugfest. At least they took the series. Keep winning series, and they'll be hard to catch.
  2. He's one of those unsung role players that don't get noticed. And that's kind of a good thing, in a sense. He can fill in reasonably well at many positions and be good enough with the bat. He won't push a starter for playing time, but he's good enough to give one a day off. Those kinds of players are important to a good team over the course of a long season. And considering everything he went through coming up through the minors, I'm happy to see him perform. Even in the bit role that he has.
  3. Walk-offs are definitely, definitely more fun on the winning side.

  4. To New Orleans I go to do my part! And I'll enjoy some jazz while I'm there for good measure.
  5. In Buck We Trust

  6. The Twins are just toying with them like a cat does for a mouse. Got 'em right where they want them! Peter Gammons name dropping PJ was a nice touch! ?
  7. They went 17-10 in June. That's a run, especially when the twins went 13-14 in the same stretch. I agree that Chicago is a threat, but they've got quite a bit of work to do.
  8. Yeah. Molitor had a couple of guys like that too. It drove me nuts then too. Bullpen usage has evolved even in that short timeframe, but that only makes it worse.
  9. If this is the case, I hope it brings some consistency with it. It's great to see the younger players blossoming, but young players aren't typically known for being consistent. Simply being more consistent would likely help this team out quite a bit.
  10. I'm not really upset about it either. I won't say that I expected it, but when I heard what the available relief corps was, I kinda saw it coming.
  11. If a manager essentially refuses to use a reliever unless forced to, then that reliever shouldn't be on the roster. Today's bullpen usage doesn't allow for that. And it's pretty clear why Thornburg was a last resort.
  12. Correct. Every team blows leads. In the end, I still don't think Cleveland's run will be sustained, but they can certainly do some damage while they're on it.
  13. Grasping defeat from the clutches of victory 3 times in a 5 game set is rather disheartening, to say the least. Hell, grasping a losing series from the clutches of a sweep is even worse. Gotta do something about the pen.
  14. So, how 'bout that bullpen?!

  15. I see that you've spent a lot of time studying my golf game! Not sure if I should be flattered, frightened, or inclined to ask you for swing tips!
  16. All of you that don't want Pagan to pitch the 9th finally get your wish and you're still not happy! You guys are impossible to please!
  17. Perhaps the two teams can work out a trade since Pagan is clearly working for the enemy anyway!
  18. Yes, it's hard to see Bundy losing his spot if he continues to pitch as well as he has the last few outings. Same with Archer. That question will likely work itself out somehow, it just remains to be seen.
  19. Nice bounce back game after blowing the early game. Great outing by Winder coming back up and I hope to see more of him. Bats did a pretty good job of adding on to the lead despite some more baserunning blunders. No ground lost or gained today. Not a bad thing. Congrats to Buxton for a new career high in HRs. Lots of time to keep adding to that mark! I'm looking for Bundy to keep piling on tomorrow.
  20. Target Field is an excellent concert venue, especially on a beautiful summer night. This isn't my cup o' tea, but I'm sure for those that it is will enjoy it. I am interested to see how they end up doing everything as far as setup though.
  21. Very winnable game lost on a couple of fronts. This team simply can't manufacture runs on a even a semi-consistent basis. As often as the pitching staff holds teams to 3 runs or fewer, this team wastes many of them by their inability to get runners across the plate without the benefit of the long ball. And the bullpen has to hold leads. It's so frustrating to see this team squander opportunities.
