  1. Might be less painful to forfeit!
  2. Ha! That sounds like a recipe for success.
  3. Eeesh. Looks like I picked the wrong time to tune into the game!
  4. What a shock! ? I'm fine with him coming back up, but wish it were in the pen and someone else starting. Regardless, good luck to him. Hopefully he can continue the good streak they're on.
  5. I did say "arguably"!
  6. Based on this, wouldn't that mean that Rooker is just a step or two slower than arguably the fastest guy in baseball?
  7. It's amazing how differently different people can interpret the same exact video of the play. Absolutely amazing. Not judging anyone one way or another. It's pretty crazy.
  8. I voted for Ryan, but I'm guessing it'll be Thorpe. I'm not sure what one more start will tell anyone, but they can always shift him to the pen next spring.
  9. The fact that there's still some fire is encouraging. These guys could just be going through the motions, but there's still competitive fire there.
  10. Fun stretch of games. Too bad they screwed the pooch long ago making it meaningless. Not sure I'm happy to see what might have been, but winning baseball is definitely more fun regardless.
  11. It often is! At least this time was humorous.
  12. So, the twins are winning by poisoning the opposition?
  13. I'm with you there. I was more just making a general statement backing up your point. I would have been on the phone saying "you can have Simmon for $1M" regardless of the anti-vax stuff. This team has other players to audition and don't need Simmons playing every day.
  14. Non-bad players get released for nonperformance related issues now and then. Those are usually more severe circumstances, but it does happen.
  15. Does wormer paste help with motion sickness because that was a bit of a roller coaster ride!
  16. Interesting. I had not thought of that, but it makes perfect sense. I suppose the other side of that is that pitchers don't change their habits and tire more quickly and outings are even shorter, or more injuries occur. Topic for a different thread though. I don't want to hijack this one!
  17. Every team has to fill out a starting rotation. Ober and Jax have been able to fill the void left by injury or ineptitude. Are they top of the rotation guys? No, but any team that isn't a large market team needs cheaper options at the back of the rotation and they've been effective in doing so. Is it early to say that the pipeline has arrived? Yes. But these guys do at least provide evidence that the FO may know a thing or two, which has been lacking to this point. Pitching takes time to develop. Baby steps suck sometimes, but patience is a virtue for a reason.
  18. Excellent article, Jamie! I look forward to seeing what else you've got in the pipeline like this!
  19. Two interesting pitching oddities last night. Adam Wainwright tossed an 88 pitch, 2 hit, complete game shutout against the Pirates. He also went 2 for 4 with an RBI at the plate! Corbin Burnes had an okay night of his own, fanning 10 consecutive en route to an 8 inning, 0 R, 15 K night. He tied the record for consecutive K's, joining Aaron Nola and Tom Seaver.
  20. A lot it will depend on what they do with the pitching. The current team can reasonably win 70 games, so I said 75-79 assuming they make additions but nothing flashy for in the pitching department. I figure that they'll hang around plus or minus a couple of games of .500.
  21. I figured that was just a cheap shot regarding how poorly the Twins have played at times.
  22. I'm not overly concerned. As pitchers adjust, I'd expect the power numbers to dip. The fact that he's bringing the BA back up is a good sign even if it is just slapping the ball the other way for singles. He's making contact, which is key. That shows that he's making adjustments to what pitchers are doing. The power should come back as he gets more PAs. Let him keep playing every day in MN.
  23. I, for one, did not see a pitchers duel being the result of this game. Nor would I expect a win with only 4 hits. But, I'll take it any day against the Pale Hose!
