  1. Interesting, yet not unexpected. In your mind, does this explain why we're not seeing many bullpen arms being cycled through as we may have otherwise seen too? At least to some degree anyway?
  2. This is the statistical breakdown that I need on a slow Wednesday afternoon!
  3. Ha! Sorry! I'll shut up! That's interesting though. I'm streaming the radio feed myself. Though, it may help that I'm in Mpls and not Oregon.
  4. Love to watch him hit. In the field? Not so much.
  5. Those able to watch, should that ball have been fielded?
  6. *sigh x2* yet another wasted leadoff double...
  7. I thought the same thing and then kinda chuckled to myself. He gets paid to drive him in, but I'll take the productive out there.
  8. I like leadoff doubles. Now, can they drive him in?
  9. Perhaps that is the solution to get games done at a reasonable hour...start them at noon!
  10. This reinforces the point that getting in work at the MLB level matters. Clearly, Jax is learning and using what he's learned and we're seeing that effort in the results. He's shown the ability to get MLB hitters out. He may well end up in the bullpen long term, but that still has value. There's no reason to not keep him in the rotation at this point. See if he can keep building on these good outings.
  11. Now that the deadline has passed and we know the returns for Berrios (and others) and had a little bit of time to get to know or even watch the new acquisitions, has anyone's idea for the 2022 rotation changed? Mine hasn't all that much. Having Pineda still here, I'd try to extend him. If that isn't in the cards, either sign or trade for a veteran starter of his caliber or better to compliment Maeda. I'm not opposed to that direction even if Pineda is extended. Have an open competition for the remaining slots for the prospects.
  12. That's my preference for Polanco as well. I really don't like him at SS, but could tolerate it for the remainder of this season if it helps figure out the 2022 alignment. I keep waffling on this, but today I'm indifferent on trading Donaldson. I'd deal Arraez since I don't really know where to play him and perhaps Miranda could learn a thing or two from Donaldson.
  13. Agreed on Polanco, Arraez and Refsnyder. At this point in the season, it probably makes a lot of sense to try to see how the position player pieces fit in the puzzle as much as possible. Injuries will still play into that, but there are some things they can still sort out. To that end, it probably makes some sense to sit Simmons, shift Polanco back to SS for now, and showcase Arraez at 2B. It'll get harder to evaluate Refsnyder once (if?) Buxton comes back and Larnach is still on the roster. If Donaldson can't get his hamstring to quit barking, then they should IL him and bring up Miranda or play Arraez there.
  14. I don't know if Jax will continue this run, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts. It also reinforces the point that the prospects should be up getting innings. Gotta see what they've got!
  15. Agreed, the Madrigal trade was brow raising. I'm sure that one wasn't easy, but we'll see if it works out for them. the AL is rather ripe for the taking, so I can't blame them too much for pushing all of their chips in.
  16. For sure. I wasn't trying to really compare them either. Just noting that the Sox very quickly leap-frogged most of the league in pretty short order by identifying what they wanted and going out to get it. And then this season, they kept going by getting even better at the deadline shoring up weaknesses and keeping up with the Joneses. That's not what this team did when they had that opportunity in 2019.
  17. While true, when their window of opportunity opened, they blew the window right out of the frame. Frankly, I'm jealous of what they accomplished in relative short order.
