  1. I've never seen an organization/company/league that makes it so difficult to consume their product as MLB has become. It's absolutely asinine from a business standpoint.
  2. I was similar. Sportscenter used to be my alarm clock. That's back when it was 30 minutes long and pure highlights instead of what it became. If it weren't for CBB and the occasional CFB game, I'd never watch ESPN anymore either. At one point, I was in 5 fantasy football leagues plus two pick 'em leagues. It consumed me. The research, the lineup evaluation and prep. I lived it. I think that's a really big reason for why I burned myself out. I ceased to be entertainment and became all about winning. I gradually left the leagues until I quit entirely. I've never missed it. I too still love talking about sports. Even the NFL. i'm not as informed on it, but there's so much media coverage it's hard to evade it. I can't really talk about the NBA though. I'm far too removed from that and since the Wolves are perpetually not good, it's easier to avoid NBA coverage.
  3. This is becoming me more and more with each passing year. I used to be so heavy into the NFL that I think I literally burned myself out on it. Now, you couldn't pay me to watch it. I don't really like how the game has evolved (sound familiar?) and it bores me to no end. I soured on the NBA before that. Now I'm souring on MLB. I do still enjoy college sports more, but I'm down to basically watching big matchups and my alma mater for football. I still watch quite a bit of college basketball though. I do enjoy hockey, but since I'm a cord cutter... I still watch quite a bit of golf, particularly on Sunday afternoons. I watch the PGA, LPGA, European Tours, whatever. I enjoy watching golf. It's perfect to settle down leading into a new work week and catch a nap on the couch with it on.
  4. I'm starting to come to the conclusion that there are many of us that enjoy talking about sports, baseball in this instance, more than we do actually enjoy watching it. Fascinating.
  5. I agree on '20. It's not really apples to apples across the league, but worth noting in this context I think. They certainly weren't terrible. It doesn't sound like we disagree on that either though. '22 should be the beginning of this FO's pitching pipeline. I'm anxious to see whether it bears fruit or not.
  6. I've found myself doing that when I do have the time. I'm pretty sure that I've watched every other team in baseball more than I have the Twins, and I live in the Cities. That's not really a high bar to clear, but true nonetheless.
  7. With you being in Texas, I imagine that you subscribe to MLB.tv or something right? Do you still watch other games or has that declined too?
  8. Technically, I've attended more games than I've watched. I can't watch games since I'm a cord cutter. I still follow most games though, one way or another. Maybe not as much of them though. A few innings rather than entire games kinda thing. I don't catch as many games as I normally would, but that's got more to do with life more than anything else. Even my game attendance has been down this season for the same reasons. They really need to figure out the BSN bit though. I've adapted, but it seems ridiculous to have so many households in the dark. In that sense, hopefully the steep decline in viewership helps change that. With baseball in a state of decline already, reduced viewership is a pretty bad thing.
  9. Maeda is one I'm watching too. If for no other reason to see if he's more like last season's version or early 2021 version.
  10. Good point on Refsnyder. I want to believe this offensive streak is real, but it would be nice to see him play out the season.
  11. Can confirm. I've got a few games on StubHub that I can't get rid of listed below face value. Granted, one is against Detroit, but the White Sox and Toronto games are usually an easier sell. Not right now!
  12. Agreed on all points. I don't want to see Rooker in the field and if you're moving Kirilloff to 1B, Sano needs a spot in the order if he's still on the roster. That makes them redundant. I've liked what I've seen from Rooker's bat after he came back up, but I'm far from sold on him long term. Heading into this offseason, I find myself intrigued by smaller things like this that I haven't really paid all that much attention too before. That's probably because the team is in a transition period and I'm curious to see how it's handled.
  13. For me, it's about the pitching. Not even anyone in particular, but I'd like to see some of the pitching that could help the club next year be brought up and see what they can do. We've already seen a few of them in Jax and Ober, but now is the time to get a more of them up and get their feet wet in the bigs. I think that taste can be beneficial in the long run. On a more random note, I actually wouldn't mind seeing Astudillo play all 9 positions in a game.
  14. Now that the calendar has flipped over to August, the trade deadline has passed and the Twins are in last place in the division, is there anything that excites you about what the rest of the season holds? Any particular prospects that you're particularly interested in seeing called up? Any minor leaguers that aren't prospects that you'd like to see get a shot?
  15. This is what I'd like to see as well. If Sano has a strong finish to the season, it'll be interesting to see how they approach the offseason with Rooker and Sano vying for the DH role going forward.
  16. Tyler sounds like he'd make a fine addition to a game thread or two!
  17. Nice, effective, outing for Jax. Still think he's a reliever at this level, but I'll take what he gave last night. I tuned in after the 2nd inning and noticed that the team was 3 for 4 with RISP only to see them go 1 for 10 the remainder of the game. That sort of thing will never not drive me nuts.
  18. For me, it's not that they activated Refsnyder. That makes plenty of sense for the reasons you stated. It's that they sent down Gordon when someone like Astudillo or Cave is still on the roster. They know who they are. They know that they're not part of the future of the franchise. Getting PAs at AAA is a valid point and not without merit. I'm just past the point of carrying guys like Astudillo and Cave at the expense of younger players at this point.
  19. While I don't disagree with your greater point, I'm not going to write off 2019 and 2020 as failures for pitching when the staffs had the 9th and 4th best ERA in the game respectively. Those staffs had their warts, no doubt, but I can't consider them failures. Up to this season, they had improved the pitching overall. That said, the FO has struggled with finding pitching to make the team truly competitive. That's been my issue.
  20. My condolences to the Richard family, and the Astros family. Never easy losing a guy like that. *Tips cap*
  21. Wait a minute...just tuning in and the local 9 is 3 for 4 with RISP??????? I approve!
  22. This is why I think this team could still be interesting next season. Sure, they've got plenty of work to do with the pitching and that will ultimately determine how competitive the club will be, but there's still a pretty good core here to build around. They may be inconsistent given the youth I'm expecting to see, but there's potential there.
  23. One thing to consider is that prospect rankings are based on the quality of the rest of the league's prospects too. Just because they're top 100, doesn't automatically make them good players, just good relatively speaking. It's entirely possible that the years these guys were ranked were down years talentwise league wide. Someone with more knowledge of such things would need to opine on that. That's beyond my knowledge base.
  24. I like that the farm system got an injection of talent at the top end. With Kirilloff, Larnach, Rooker and Jeffers moving up, the system got pretty bottom heavy, particularly in pitching. I'm anxious to see how it plays out and starts to push its way into the bigs.
  25. Not sure that I agree with the last paragraph in it's entirety, but definitely agree with the last sentence. That said, they did build good staffs in 2019 and 2020. This season clearly didn't work out though.
