  1. For a friendly game, thems some pretty steep stakes!
  2. Did Q hook you up with any sweet gadgets? Or did you just have some ordinary Austin Martin?
  3. I gave them a B+. They hit on the two big trades, but failed to deal Pineda. They somehow managed to deal Happ though. That said, I think they did really well on the two important trades. That's a much bigger deal for the franchise. It would be nice to see them pivot and extend Pineda now.
  4. It's so legitimate that the guy conducting the survey didn't even bother to answer his own question! So, I'm intrigued by Martin and what that does to the organization. I'm hoping he's not insurance in case they can't extend Buxton, but I'm also curious about what that means for Lewis. Obviously a great problem to have, but the fallout of the addition is just as intriguing as the prospect himself for me.
  5. All things considered, I think they did pretty well. It sucks to lose Berrios, but I think the fact that they dealt him shows that they didn't believe they could re-sign him. Given that, they did very well in dealing him. I would have liked to see Simmons and Pineda dealt, but since they weren't, I think they'd be wise to pivot and extend Pineda.
  6. Now that the trade deadline has passed, which of the new prospects intrigues you the most?
  7. They've got nothing left to prove in the minors. Expecting rookies to not have growing pains is unrealistic. They've got to learn at this level, just like everyone else.
  8. They did, hence their call up. They've got to learn at the major league level at some point.
  9. Those two are the potential future cornerstones of the franchise and Astudillo is a borderline major leaguer. It makes far more sense to give everyday at bats to those guys and not Astudillo.
  10. The chances may have been better under those circumstances too!
  11. Right where they want us!
  12. Yeah, contact was actually made.
  13. I was thinking more along the lines of...
  14. More importantly, does he have the proper permits?
  15. What would an "own goal" look like in baseball?
  16. Defense has been a priority. They signed Donaldson and Simmons. I guess that I remember it being fairly public that they were trying to improve their defense. The "Arreaz can play outfield" bit is just a means to get his bat in the lineup. I would agree that it flies in the face of that notion, but clearly they emphasized defense by going after an upgrade at SS. Simmons wasn't the first choice (don't recall who was), but they were definitely after an upgrade at the position. If they felt Polanco was a good SS, there's no reason whatsoever to bring in another SS. Let alone one like Simmons.
  17. I figured that he's on normal rest? That's about all I got.
  18. Don't worry, Chief. Off days don't provide much to talk about. I understand why you don't have much material to work with.
  19. True, but there's a reason that the FO prioritized SS and brought in Simmons. I've seen enough of Polanco at SS. There is room for improvement over Simmons offensively for sure, but Polanco is better suited for 2B, IMHO. Hopefully, they can sign another stopgap SS or Lewis or some other new acquisition can take hold of the position next season.
  20. If there's a silver lining to this, this is it!
