  1. That roller coaster was so crazy that I got motion sickness just reading that! ?
  2. Welcome to Twins Daily! Yes, the Mets are still paying Bonilla and will be until 2035 when he's 72...
  3. Kluber one-year, $13M to Tampa.
  4. Cross Kluber off the list. He's reportedly signing a one year, $13M deal with Tampa. Also Gausman, 5/$110 to Toronto.
  5. Hes been betting on himself this whole time, the confidence that he'll get MVP votes is just more of the same. Love the swagger. So far, he's backed it up. Now he just needs to stay on the field.
  6. Torii was easily my favorite Twin when he was here. That said, I never really felt he was a HoF caliber player. I wouldn't be surprised if he does eventually get in, but I think he's in that next group of players that were great but not elite.
  7. But then you've got more players in a closer proximity to each other! Plus base runners. Less reaction time on the ball! The infield is a dangerous place!
  8. Great first post, and I tend to agree that he's on the outside looking in. Welcome to Twins Daily!
  9. I don't think messing with Polanco at SS makes a lot of sense at this point. He just got comfortable at 2B and his offensive numbers took off in the process. I don't think that's a coincidence. I think you leave him there and focus on Martin and/or Lewis to take the reigns at SS, or acquire another option somewhere.
  10. I think I'd prefer to have a second ASG at the end of the season again, rather than an all-MLB team.

Most guys would beg out of an end of season ASG.

  11. Decided = settled. Could be that he signs, could be that they don't believe that they can and they move on. And I don't expect anything to happen before spring training. But I think they'll have a notion on whether they think they'll sign him one way or another before that. I'm in the boat that says that if he doesn't sign, they're rebuilding anyway. I wish they'd just sit down with all parties tomorrow and start hammering things out. I think he's that important.
  12. I'm in a similar boat. I'm not really concerned yet mainly because it's November and I think the CBA flubs up things for a lot of clubs. I also think that much of their intentions revolve around Buxton. Once that's decided, one way or another, I would expect things to pick up.
  13. Definitely a balancing act there. Still crazy to imagine a 20-year old getting that kind of coin already though.
  14. Jeff Passan is reporting that the Rays and Wander Franco have reached an agreement on a 12 year contract extension.
  15. While I would agree that it appears that they've learned from past mistakes in this case, I'd imagine that they'll be far more likely to protect pitching than position players. The need is far greater on the mound than it is in the outfield.
  16. This is what makes this run of short term deals so frustrating. It's awfully difficult to create and sustain an extended window while needing to turn the roster over as often as they're operating now. Long term solutions are needed, particularly in the pitching staff.
  17. Well, reading this isn't how I wanted to start my week...
  18. I would like it to be Lewis, but that's about as likely as the sun rising in the west. He'll have a lot to prove before getting called up. Miranda probably just needs a solid start to the season. And if an infielder is dealt, he's likely in line to fill that spot. I wonder how they're going to approach the pitchers. Will they try to manage their innings in the minors early or just throw them to the wolves right out of the gate?
  19. I still like the trade and think it was the right decision if it was clear they wouldn't re-sign him. I'm also disappointed that it came to that though. As far as the topic at hand, I can't really answer at this point. It's an "Incomplete" for me right now because we don't know what they do with the money they would otherwise have spent. I think the trade also put the team back from a year as far as contention. So, how quickly Martin and SWR get to the big leagues and start contributing plays into this too.
  20. To me, your point on Berrios being the top arm of the class makes his signing now more curious. I'm not Berrios though and there's something to be said about the safety of signing. The other alternative is that they trade for a pitcher and use that money to pay a current contract or extend him. It doesn't have to be for a free agent.
  21. That's pretty cool! Congratulations to Jax! And thank you and Savannah for your service!
  22. Hanson is right! It's a privilege to put in the Twins uniform and represent the great state of Minnesota! He should have to pay for that opportunity!
