  1. Excellent subject matter and debate. Definitely a good read. But, as @Craig Arko mentioned, I don't have to choose one. I enjoyed watching both immensely. I appreciate both for the players they were and I'm perfectly content with that.
  2. I don't see this as being any different than a department store giving store credit for a return. Secondly, season ticket holders received a bonus credit from the team on their 2020 ticket package to be used on additional games or tickets during a future season, which was non-refundable. That's likely what's happening here.
  3. I'm not sure how the flex plans worked, but the fixed season ticket plan holders had the 2020 renewals carried over for the 2021 season. The team also gave an extra percent credit on the value of the season ticket package. I don't remember what that percentage was, but it was applied as an account credit.
  4. Indeed. Imagine being a season ticket holder with half your tickets for next season already paid for.
  5. The litmus test for me is always how adversity is handled. Doesn't matter who or what, good and effective leadership respond to adversity well and turn the ship around and instill confidence. Right now, it's hard to convince anyone that definition fits the current FO. That said, this off-season has only just begun. I'm at least going to hold out on a verdict until I see the plan in it's entirety. They don't appear to be making it easy on themselves though.
  6. Sano should be the DH unless he's traded or they sign one for some reason. I like the rotation idea for many reasons, but I think this team is set up for a typical DH as long as Sano is still on the roster.
  7. You don't think Buxton is trying to maximize his value? These negotiations are all about leverage, and both sides are angling to try to maximize that. The team is trying to downplay Buxton's value and get the best terms they can. That's how negotiations work.
  8. This really just seems like posturing to me. The team is leveraging other teams should they in fact determine that they need to trade him. And at the same time, likely finding what his true value is in the process, which they can use to leverage Buxton who is likely doing the same thing behind the scenes. That's actually pretty shrewd in my mind. I'm not overly concerned about it at this point. It's November and the CBA expires in a couple of weeks. I pretty much expect this to take right up to when players start reporting to camp, whenever that may be.
  9. I wonder how much the CBA situation plays into this, too. I have no inkling one way or another, genuinely curious.
  10. Agreed, we only know half the story and we'll likely never know all of it. To this point, we still don't know what the entire deal he got entails either. There could be details in the deal that the Twins wouldn't give him. There's still a lot of things we simply don't know yet. It certainly doesn't look good at first blush though.
  11. He did actually relocate further south, so there is that!
  12. I agree. Martin and/or SWR really need to pan out.
  13. What's worse is that $131M is what's being reported now, over 7 years. I suppose that it's possible that he wouldn't have signed for that here, but that's still pretty frustrating one way or another. Happy for Jose though.
  14. Along with recency bias, I think what clouds the minds of many is that the bad signings have been REALLY bad. As good as Maeda and Odorizzi had/have been at times, they don't really offset that.
  15. This is part SSS initially and part opposing pitchers learning a little something about him and using it effectively. Jeffers simply needs to learn to adjust to that too. I think he'll be fine with more, and more consistent, at bats.
  16. I see these veteran guys chasing a title, not money. I don't think that's going to be a sell this team can make. And I doubt they'd pony up the money it would require to make them look past a real contending chance. And in all likelihood, I don't want them to throw that kind of money around in that case.
  17. Congratulations to Buster Posey for a brilliant career.  Loved watching you play!  Enjoy your retirement!

  18. True, but only one gets them in gold at the end of the year!
  19. I tend to agree. I like the Stanley Cup the most. The rest of them are just kinda "meh". I see the NBA and NFL trophies as being basically the same thing. Nothing too exciting about that. I don't mind the MLB trophy so much given the historic nature of the "pennant". It's meaningful in that way, but it's kinda weird at the same time.
  20. Don't fight it. Just be proud and at the same time ponder how much more productive you could be if you spent less time here! ?
  21. The Twins are the only team in the division not to have a WS appearance in those two decades though. This despite being the most successful (and arguably most consistent?) within said division during the regular season. That kinda stings. I get where you're coming from though. The playoff futility overshadows what the team has been able to accomplish during the regular seasons. The issue becomes that those accomplishments are wasted in the postseason, rendering them largely moot to many.
  22. I'm not arguing the spoiled aspect at all, actually. I might even be slightly off topic if you read both of my posts above, since I'm not really making a point either way. Fortunate, maybe. Spoiled, not so much.
  23. Definitely. They either don't have one, or subscribe to a different organizational philosophy. What annoys me most about the Twins is that other teams have taken the momentum they've built after bottoming out and won something. They've made a deep run in the playoffs. This team, despite having lesser peaks and valleys, can't build on that when it's "easier" for them to build upon on a solid foundation rather than having to build from the ground up to do it. That's my frustration. The Twins are the only team in the division to not have a WS appearance this century. Being perpetually decent has it's plusses and minuses.
