  1. Let's hope that Fenway can help Larnach out with the stick. Let's make some contact today, kid!
  2. I, for one, am just happy to see the sun here today in the Twin Cities. I wouldn't complain if I were in Boston watching baseball on a nice spring day though.
  3. Luck is what it looks like to me as well. Like you mention, bunting seems easy to do in theory, but quite another thing to actually accomplish given how hard these guys throw.
  4. Probably not a great sign regarding Kirilloff's wrist...
  5. It's been 6 games. I realize that he's just following his usual pattern and that it's frustrating, but it's been 6 games. Especially with AK hurt and Sanchez apparently needing a spot in the lineup, Sano kinda needs to stay at 1B at this point.
  6. Agreed, and pitching philosophy these days doesn't lend to it either. All of the max effort style and lack of actually learning the art of pitching simply doesn't make going 5+ regularly realistic for the majority of guys. And that creates the need for the bullpen going 4+ innings a night. Which isn't sustainable for most teams either. It's a very circular problem. It's hardly even realistic to have a top tier rotation OR a top tier bullpen for all but a handful of teams, let alone both.
  7. But the more things change, the more they remain the same. That's a hell of a paradox!
  8. The same can be said about a 5-man rotation as well though. There are only so many starting pitchers that will even give you the opportunity to get more than 5 innings of quality pitching on a routine basis. And that's ignoring a pitch count. That's part of the problem.
  9. It does if they lose 108 1-run games while hitting 486 home runs, with 54 of them being by blown save!
  10. A solid outing against a great lineup deserves some credit though, so you were right to mention him.
  11. Good call! I've already successfully blocked that series out of my memory banks!
  12. I think it's far more likely that established major league talent gets dealt. I think they've set themselves up more for next year and beyond than for this year. So, I don't see prospects getting dealt. And I don't think anyone on the big league club gets dealt solely because of being sellers either. I think it's possible someone gets dealt because one of the prospects is beating down the door to get a big league roster spot.
  13. I'm not sure about a hot Buxton start. Sure, he's got 3 HRs in 6 games, but that's pretty much all he's done. 10 Ks in 26 PAs isn't great and is double the number of hits that he's got. I know the OPS is nice, but I'd like less feast or famine to call it a hot start. It's early yet though. I'm not worried about him getting going.
  14. Lowlights? Bats. And the bats. Oh, and the bats... Early injuries to Kirilloff and Alacala. Hopefully they're not as severe as they appear to be in early reports. The bullpen, while solid early, has already shown signs of being a problem. Highlights? Nice outings for Bundy and Duran. Paddack settled down after a rough first inning.
  15. You might have to unlock it like the badges and achievements on this site. Something to aspire for!
  16. You can, just be sure to use the appropriate font.
  17. These should be memorized and modified as needed for any applicable series in the future. There will be a quiz and it'll be in the form of future butt whoopin put upon this team later this season. Consider yourself warned!
  18. Fun article and topic. Nice to get something baseball oriented yet not every so often. Good way to break things up on these boards. My favorite is Return of the Mack. I like the message and swagger it sends. And it's just a damn good song!
  19. As someone born in 1981, I agree with you completely here!
  20. I can't find the link, but the name of the game these days is to get people in the gate and let them spend the money on concessions and merch. The gate isn't the primary source of income anymore, the concessions and merch are. At least at the ballpark anyway. So, they can take the hit on tickets and easily make it up on $16 beers. The trick is to get you in the door.
  21. Of course, this is the internet!
  22. I'd add: Stubbing my toe Smashing my finger with a hammer Nails on a chalkboard Running out of Scotch I will say this though. That's a really good team and they showed it in this series. This squad has a ways to go to compete with that.
  23. I understand the "why" on Kershaw. I don't even disagree with the logic. That doesn't mean that I have to like it. Especially since I was there! History would have made sitting in the cold and wind very much worth it.
