    Good for him! Hopefully he's able to take that frustration from the past two seasons and channel it into some good things with the big league squad!

    To this season? No. Even if he plays up to his potential, there are other holes in this current squad. Is he potentially the answer in LF and a building block to the future? Hopefully.

    Let's have this conversation in September and see if we're still talking this way. We've seen good first halves before. That said, I hope he's figuring out how to produce at a high level for an entire season. He's fun to watch when he's on. And he's really fun to watch right now.

    While true, it's still up to the player to make the plays. The manager can't do that for them. Both players were in positions familiar to them and were tasked with making routine plays.

    While I wouldn't be using Colome in a closing role at this point, Rocco is. I can understand why Rocco brought him out for the 10th, but I would have gone with another option. And I'd have yanked him after back to back walks. He was gassed. Probably would have brought Alacala in at that point given what was left in the pen. I wasn't really a fan of the PR for Donaldson, but even so, those plays that were booted were routine. Those plays have to be made and neither Arraez or Blakenhorn were put in a defensive position that they were unfamiliar with, so I don't have an issue with that. Players have to execute too. Plenty of blame to go around in this one. Rocco has to make better decisions. Colome has to execute better. Blackenhorn needs to field the grounder hit right at him. Arraez needs to make a good throw on a ball that he had time to set and fire on. The manager needs to put players in a position to succeed. The players need to execute regardless of the situation they're put in. None of them got it done. The last two innings of the game were a microcosm of the Twins season so far.

    The offense is the biggest problem, in my view. I do think that the RISP issue will improve, but not drastically. This team strikes out far to often and that will hold the offense back because it cripples their ability to manufacture runs. I'm less optimistic about the bullpen though. It's still early and keeping players on the field has been an issue thus far. Will that continue or do things start to even themselves out. We'll have to wait and see.

    I don't really disagree with you here, but when Rooker went down Kiriloff probably should have been called up instead of sitting around waiting for the minor league seasons to start. I know that he's not sitting around doing nothing, but he'd be better served by being put in game situations, IMHO.

    Yeah, it's well past time to drop him in the order. Arraez should be at or near the top, not the bottom. There's no reason that Polanco should be hitting at the heart of the order. He's not slumping, this is closer to who he is.

    There was a 7:00pm curfew on Monday due to protests. Tuesday's curfew was later. The Wild and Wolves also had home games postponed on Monday night.

    In fairness, that's basically the case all season, every season, for every team!

    Agreed. I don't think LF needs to be the awkward situation that it is.

    Situational hitting on this team is atrocious. The amount of guys left on base by this team is astounding. The problem is not getting guys on base, it's driving them in. This bullpen is probably just fine if the offense does it's job, but since it's not, the bullpen does need to be perfect...which isn't a reasonable expectation. I do think that Rocco managed today's game as if he had a doubleheader tomorrow, which he does. I think he left Happ in to try to buy some outs and then did the same with Dobnak. I can understand one of those instances, but not both. Especially when you're carrying 14 pitchers.

    We also saw the RISP issue at the end of 2019. It's a problem for sure. The bullpen is also an issue, but I'd agree with you that the offense is a bigger concern.

    Two weeks isn't a large sample, but there are trends emerging. It's time to start making some adjustments on how the pen is utilized. Colome can't be used in late game situations, he's proven that. It's probably time to move in from Cave. He's trended in the wrong direction over the course of the last two seasons. Sano needs to cut down on the strikeouts. They've become ridiculous, even for him. Simmons has been a pleasant surprise with the stick so far. Love seeing Buxton hitting his stride. Great to see that.

    And that's all he's had above A Ball.

    I think Sano pretty much is what he is. He'll go stretches were it seems like making contact is nearly impossible and he's swinging out of his shoes. Then he'll go on stretches were everything he hits goes 450'. His only consistency is in inconsistency. It is troubling to see him dropping in the order though. Even with the guys in this lineup, he should be at the heart of the order. He simply doesn't produce well enough consistently to put him there though.

    Pretty much an old around demolishing today. Good to see things clicking on all facets. Bottom half of the order could have been more productive though.

    What probably makes the most sense is to call up Rooker (or Kirilloff). Either start whichever in LF or move Sano to 3B and play them at 1B. I suspect the LF option would be preferred to limit positional shuffling.

    If those best pitchers do their job, there wouldn't be extra innings in that scenario though.

    I'm trying to reconcile the fact that much of the depth is largely unproven. It's scary and exciting all at the same time. I suppose that's a sign that I'm ready to see the next group of prospects push through.

    I like the direction the squad is heading in this context, but they've still got work to do in this department. I do think it's coming though. This is where drafting athletes and finding a position for them later has it's advantages. The only thing I really worry about is that most of these positions have significant drop offs from the starter. Being capable and being adequate at a given position are two different things. But as I noted above, I do think some good options are waiting in St. Paul.

    I'm not an Austidillo guy, but I recognize that he had a pretty good spring. He's also basically the 26th man on the roster, which he is perfectly suited for. I don't want a Rooker or other prospect eating that bench time. This move is no surprise to me. Don't really understand the Garlick over Rooker, but he did finish stronger than Rooker. Rooker will still have his chance. Garlick is hardly an established player and an easy DFA candidate should he not continue his good spring.
