  1. Amazing what can happen when a team can execute with RISP and also have a legit bullpen. That's about all I can muster after this one.
  2. Agreed. I mentioned in another post that I don't blame either party for the lack of extension, simply stating a fact. He's on a trade list because he is not signed long term. He wouldn't be if he were. I don't think anyone is at fault, it's just a fact of the matter.
  3. Entirely possible. Given the composition of the 40 man, he seems more likely to get traded than to ride out his contract. Barring injury anyway. I wonder what the presence of Pujols on the market does to Sano's possible suitors.
  4. I don't disagree, any one team can see value in any particular player and all it takes sometimes is to have the one team interested. That's how they were signed to a roster in the first place. And nothing says that you can't seek out trades for those players. Desperation is a thing. I'm just looking at the notion that a player has no value to the Twins, so we should expect other teams to pony up worthwhile trade chips in return. Of the players listed, I believe that Sano was the only player under contract for more than this year. So, dealing them doesn't really impact anything long term either. Plus, teams that trade for depth are contending teams, which significantly reduces your trade partners. Rebuilding or middle of the road teams aren't going to trade for any of those guys aside from maybe Sano. He's the only impact player in that list.
  5. Sure, but it's far more difficult to trade a player that doesn't have value. Another team has to want them. Teams can simply scoop them up after they've been released and it costs them nothing.
  6. I'm not really arguing the case either way, just noting that the two are related. You're correct, Buxton wasn't going to sign a team friendly deal, and I don't blame him for that nor do I blame the FO for not giving in to whatever he wanted. But he is on a trade list because he has not signed long term. That's not necessarily indicating blame or guilt on anyone's part, just stating facts. Buxton still provides value, but not nearly as much as he would if he stayed healthy. I wonder how different the circumstances would be if he could stay healthy, but we'll never know.
  7. This has been my biggest hang up with the setup as well. Plus, I liked that it was a different brand of baseball. It served as a nice changeup from MLB and provided a much more fun and laid back atmosphere. There are good points for it too, but there are definitely aspects that I'll miss.
  8. Those guys don't provide a lot of value. So, if the object is to improve this team, they'll need to deal guys that other teams actually want.
  9. I do think it is a bit early to start talking about this. While the team has dug itself into a hole, it's not an insurmountable one. This could be a different conversation this time next week. The team is not without it's warts. Very serious ones in some cases. As for any conversation on Sano, he's probably worked himself into no man's land regarding a trade. He doesn't provide a lot of value unless he improves, but if he improves, then why trade him now?
  10. These are related. He's on a trade list BECAUSE the FO didn't extend him.
  11. As hard as this team was to follow while making the Tigers look competent and the Rangers look above average, I'm not looking forward to see what Chicago and Oakland will do to them. Health can be blamed for some of the offensive struggles, but they keep taking one step forward and two steps back in that department. Meanwhile. the bullpen can't manage to get out of its own way. Not being able to do much damage after this past week is disappointing, to say the least. As far as weeks in May are concerned, this will be a rather important one for this team.
  12. Don't really disagree with that, but it's the bullpen that will hold this team back. You can't slug your way through the playoffs.
  13. None of those things will fix the bullpen though.
  14. I'm not a fan, but I've always been of the opinion that he has value as the 25th/26th man that doesn't need to play every day but can play basically anywhere and give you some offense. He's still that guy to me and he's done nothing to convince me he's anything more than that. He's played far more than I'd like this season due to a variety of circumstances, but teams do need a guy like him. And they're often underrated.
  15. Good call up. I think we know what Rooker is, so no reason not to see what Larnach can do. With luck, he does well enough to put a little pressure on Kepler to come around, or to jettison Cave.
  16. Absolutely right. This was the original intent coming into the season, so why would anything change? If you play Kirilloff at 1B, then you need a LF. If you play Arraez in LF, then you need another utility guy. All of this while Sano rots on the bench? Making changes just creates an issue elsewhere, so why deviate from what you wanted to happen in the first place? That's how the roster was constructed going into Spring Training.
  17. I don't think it's a coincidence that they are getting healthy and suddenly putting up runs again. Couple that with Garver and Kirilloff coming alive and suddenly the offense looks about like what we expected it'd be. It's only one series, but a good early and important test for both clubs. Good to see our squad come out on top. Hopefully, they can build on it and get the bullpen figured out.
  18. On the bright side, Kirilloff has awakened!
  19. Keep making good contact and the hits will come. Hitting rockets right at people doesn't do much for the batting average. Not having been in real game action since ST doesn't help anything. Let him get his feet wet, play every day and see what he can do at this level.
  20. This is probably just as much the case for the Twins too. This will be an important early season series for both teams, in my view.
  21. I agree completely. The only way the Indians and Twins remain contenders is if the Sox don't go on an extended run. I think it's very likely that they do though. Especially since their two main competitors for the division are so flawed.
  22. Leadoff or heart of the order. I'm happy either way with the way he's raking. He's been really fun to watch!
  23. Forgot about Telis being on the roster...that makes much more sense to send him down.
  24. This seems like an overreaction. Their seasons don't overlap a whole lot. It seems like there should be plenty of ineptitude, shattered expectations and ridiculous amounts of bad luck to go around in this town. If I were the Vikings, I'd be more concerned with the squad just to the southeast of Target Field. Heck, why not join forces and utilize the same marketing firm?
  25. That's my guess too. I haven't seen any mention of a move, so I'm curious.
